We liked everything Matakauri had to offer. The staff were more like friends and treated us like family. Sitting in the lounge in front of the fireplace enjoying the view of the mountains was absolutely stunning. AND the food was fabulous!!

This felt like a honeymoon suite and was the outstanding accommodation of our whole holiday exploring most of New Zealand. The bedroom was large and very comfortable with a delightful balcony and its bathroom was luxurious in every way. Great location, very comfortable hotel. Lounge area, with a happy hour from 5 to 6pm., so we got to meet and chat with other guests - great idea. The Bespoke Kitchen is next door, so if you need something more than the hotel's continental breakfast, you just pop across the road. Lovely hotel to stay in, we left to stay in Glenorchy for 2 days, and the hotel stored our big cases til we returned for another night. Perfect service.
