We had the pleasure to spend two nights at the Barahi jungle lodge on the banks of East Rapti River in Nepal. Already at Bharatpur airport we were welcomed by the lodge‘s pick-up service in person of most amiable Rajesh, who should turn out to be our naturalist guide for the whole stay. The Head-manager himself gave us a warm welcome and introduction into the lodge. We were impressed by the careful sustainability efforts in combination with a five star accomodation with all modern facilities close to the jungle. The staff was most caring, polite and attentive in all functions. The highlights of course were the Jeep Safari, Jungle walk and boat safari in the early morning in the park. Across the shallow Rapti river pick-up point is reached with a boat directly from the lodge. Safar jeeps wating for half or full-day trips. Driver and our guide Rajesh did a terrific job in showing vegetation and all wildlife Chitwan had to offer on that day including a stylish jungle tea/coffee with pastry. Deer, boars, bears, rhinos, monkeys, elefants are just the bigger animals, not speaking of peacocks and many other exotic birds. Safety was always key and we felt always secure and in best hands, either on the car or by foot during jungle walk. Both activities give a very good impression of the park‘s environment. Arriving from the trip with dust and sweat Barahi staff was waiting with refreshment towels and fresh water. A boat trip in the early morning on the calm Rapti river gave wonderful sight on birdlife and bigger animals crossing or bathing in the river. Dinner followed after a presentation of regional cultural dance with excellent cuisine listening to the sounds of the jungle by the pool. Coffee, tea, water was complementary all time with high-speed WiFi. Our bungalow met all expectations with enormous comfort. Wow, this was Nepali hospitality at its best.

I had an amazing stay here. I felt immediately at home. It’s such a nice place to relax, be in nature and spend time with amazing people. Hari is an AMAZING host, he is very kind and makes you feel so welcome in Chitwan. ☀️ I did the full day safari and we saw lots of animals up close, including 2 bears!! Hari knows the jungle so well so we had lunch at an amazing view point. As well as a the safari, I loved the yoga class, jungle walks and beautiful sunsets. 🌅 I extended my stay and was very sad to leave. So I would recommend this homestay to anyone interested in a relaxing jungle visit! Thank you Hari!

Such a beautiful home with the perfect balance of home like but still good facilities like a hotel. You get brought into the family and end up staying much longer than you originally thought you would , highly highly recommend and I will be returning in the future without a doubt. Good value for money and very cool walking safari, but honestly I could’ve just stayed at the house for a week. Great time

Hospitality, location, clean rooms, good food, swimming pool and elephant safari

The family are great, the peace and quiet at the lodge is excellent, the food was very good, and the safaris were amazing. If you are looking for the creature comforts of a resort or hotel then this is not the place for you. The rooms may be spartan but they were clean. This is the place to go if you want to be away from the crowded tourist district, and value some peace and quiet. You will have a large variety of birds around your room, and maybe the occasional jackal at night if you are lucky (don't worry about them, they are great to see and go in the other direction as fast as they can if they see you). The family who own the lodge are all lovely and welcoming, and they supply some great tasting food (the nearest shops are a 10-15 minute walk away. Bishnu from the family who runs the lodge is also the safari guide, and he is great He is a local who truly loves and cares for nature, and who is very knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. I went out on my first jeep safari within a couple of hours of arriving and to be honest I was not expecting to see much. I would have been happy with a few birds and just seeing the park. What I saw far exceeded that. We spotted our first rhinoceros within a couple of minutes of entering the park and saw several more (up very close). There were dozens of spotted deer, hog deer, gharial crocodiles, mugger crocodiles, macaques, wild boar, and a huge variety of birds. I went on another jeep safari two days later and saw 9 different individual rhinoceros that day as well. Some of them were within n 5 metres of our jeep. On that second safari we also saw plenty more of the other animals I have mentioned, including a huge range of birds, including some migratory species which are rare to see in this part of the world. Unfortunately I decided not to do the canoe ride or the walking safari, but have since been in touch with other tourists I met there, who said that was also a wonderful experience. HIGHLY recommended.

Nyaz is an amazing host. Really caring and friendly, you feel home. The place is super beautiful and simple, I felt peace the minute I came here and didn’t want to leave. I have stayed 2 weeks and this sejour changed my life. Would go back anytime

Tiger Wildlife Resort was my home for two weeks. Besides the beauty of the place, perfect for those who seek quiet surroundings, what was truly remarkable is the care I received as a guest here. I felt like a VIP, a princess even, as the owners, Gambir, and the rest of the team, went out of their way to make my stay absolutely perfect. I was given what I believe is the best room on the property, with a balcony facing the park, from which every morning I would see all sorts of animals: deers, rhinos, boars and countless birds (among which peacocks and black storks and openbills) The food here is absolutely excellent, always freshly made and very tasty. The chef is so sweet, always doing his best to satisfy my (many!) requests. The safaris and tours were also lovely experiences, as the parks in the area have lots to offer. I recommend taking the time to visit Tikauli and the 20k lake. I also enjoyed walking around the rural village and talking to a few locals who seem to adore foreigners. In general, I would imagine staying here about 5 days is enough to tick all the touristy stuff of the list... unless - like me - you're not in a rush about seeing this and that, maybe you work online and enjoy taking some time away from more mundane life.. then stay as long as your heart feels and discover how wholesome it is to become a Tiger Wildlife family member ! Excellent facilities throughout - an oasis in the jungle ! Very friendly staff and excellent food. Safaris and boat trips easily arranged with very good guides.
