Very nice city, plenty of historical sights, shopping, restaurants. Make sure it is not a national holiday though, the local train was absolutely packed! One week was the perfect way to enjoy the town and explore temples and shrines...and cute cafes! We recommend taking a walking tour to get a feel for the town and learn temple etiquette, etc.. In addition, we tried a few experiences - kintsugi golden joinery, woodcarving, and indigo dyeing. It was wonderful to meet the artisans and work with them (even though we are not terribly artistic!). The Hase-dera Shrine and the Great Buddha are awe-inspiring...
The Hase-dera Shrine and the Great Buddha are awe-inspiring and accessing them by local train is easy. By far the most beautiful shrine we have seen in our travels. Some fabulous restaurants and a great breakfast spot near the beach. Enoshima Island is also worth a visit.Guest review byAnneAustralia

Staff were fine but a little on the cross side - the lady was quite sharp with us for forgetting to remove our shoes. Other than that the accommodation itself was lovely, spotlessly clean and comfortable and good value for Kamakura. Breakfast was homemade granola or Japanese style breakfast and was all good. Could faintly hear the sound of Enoden passing through (and street warning sirens) on and off, really vaguely and wasn't loud, enjoyed that sound tbh (Japan vibes). Walking distance from Kamakura station, Komachi-dori st and Tsurugaoka shrine.
