We've been twice to Furano.
We've been twice to Furano. It's a wonderfully friendly and relaxed resort. While it's not large by European or American standards, it features fabulously dry powder snow, and great restaurant options at the foot of the slopes and in the adjacent town. Furano was an interesting city town, with enough restaurants and markets to find whatever we might need. Both my huband and myself were not feeling well, so it was a good place to relax. All the people at the stores and eating establishments were always helpful and so very polite. There were some amazing views as Furano is surrounded by mountains. Small town at a distance away from the slopes. The town itself is unremarkable though compact and well-equipped. Note that Furano has TWO ski zones, and the Kitanomine zone opens about a month later into the season. Public transport is infrequent, and difficult to get around by. The hotel was extremely beautiful and the hosts were superb. All of the tourist spots in the photos were easily accessible from the hotel and absolutely worthwhile. They included Tomita Farm, a nearby waterfall near Biei, Blue Pond near Biei, the park opposite the hotel Air Furano and the Furano shrine. Highly recommend.Guest review byDeborahAustralia - 6.0
Furnano town itself is dead in April.
Furnano town itself is dead in April. The only reason to go there are the cheese factory and wine factory. But distances between both are great. Unfortunately, the wine factory was closed at the time we went to Furano (mid-April). The cheese factory experience was great. After which we called a cab (local charges) to Ningle Terrace. This artist village is barely functioning in April -- very few shops were open. But there was one owned by a retired architect that made spinners that come back to you (cool). Gitst: Spring is not the time to visit Furano. All the other seasons would be great. Example: flowers and fruit in the summer season.Guest review byNASingapore

Facilities for ski/snowboarders are great - storage room downstairs and a courtesy shuttle will transport you to Rhythm for ski hire, to the nearby gondola at Kitanomine or 10 mins to the Furano gondola. The excellent hotel staff spoke English and were able to assist with restaurant reservations. The breakfasts were fantastic, as was the hotel onsen. Discounted lift passes and good ski hire equipment in the lobby. Location also not far from the Flower farms with their lovely summer blooms. Staff members are very polite and helpful. Breakfast is fine offering a variety choice of Japanese and Western breakfast.
