Setting the Standard
Bali’s oldest beach resort retains its reputation as a glamorous alternative to nearby Kuta. The coastline of Sanur has a long stretch of white sand lined with restaurants and bars. It is tailor made for chic clientele or families wanting to relax in an exclusive resort or villa without the need to party into the wee hours.
Sanur is also a popular day trip destination for tourists staying in Kuta looking to do some water sports. There are many companies offering diving along its submerged outer reef, jet skiing on top of its blue waters or paragliding in the cool breezes above this ocean paradise.
The shoreline features a cycle path that is also perfect for walking and jogging. At its very northern tip is the ferry terminal that offers boat trips to Nusa Lembongan, a small island off the southeast coast of Bali that is famous for its laid-back atmosphere.
Sanur has its fair share of markets providing an impressive range of artistic handicrafts such as wood carvings and batik paintings. Best of these are the Sindhu Market and the daytime beachfront market.

Sanur has been done tidy, new beautiful hotels have been build, wave breakers with cosy `bale´s" along the shore, new terminal for boats, good shopping and restaurants, a multitude of choices for all categories from backpackers to luxury guests. a vivid, living city with a good vibe. the main roads have turned some worn out the latest yeras, otherwise the shoreline and beach have been really nice. this was our 7th visit to sanur, not the last. Good things are proximity to airport, good choice of options, easy acces to cities and places around. the new shopping mall was maybe a little over the limits, but it certainly pleases many. I only ever stay in Sanur for a night or 2 when catching a boat or for it's proximity to the airport. It use to be a bit quieter than other areas in the south/Denpasar region. It's now way too crowded and the traffic is just crazy. Won't stay there again.Guest review byLaurie - 8.0

Sanur is a great holiday spot in Bali. No noisy beach clubs and heaps of restaurants that range from high end to family owned warungs. Sanur as a location is still relatively handy to the international airport. I recommmend you download the Blue Taxi App which ensures a fixed price option for all of your travel needs where you need a modern, clean and airconditioned travel. Alternatively 'Gojek' motorbike riders are everywhere and are a cheap fun way of getting around. Sanur is like what Kuta/Legian used to be 25 years ago. If you are looking for a laid-back, more chillaxed vibe Sanur could be for you. The 5-star hotels that line the full length of the beach promenade provide a nice respite from the heat, with great freshly caught local seafood and cocktails - to while away your afternoon or evenings. The balinese people are truely genuinely friendly, charming, considerate and respectful people. The hotel is located just a 2 mins walk from the beach and restaurants and 10-15 mins from Sanur's shopping center. The village area where all the restaurants opened into was green and lush as were the very well maintained gardens. The a la carte (all you can eat) breakfast was very good. The hotel main pool looks out to the beach and it’s peaceful to sit and watch the local fishermen each evening. You can stroll along the boardwalk to a few other hotels and restaurants.
