Small village with some very nice restaurants. The people were friendly and we booked a car at local rental shop. They were cheap, professional and very helpful. They even came to our villa to pick up the car. Only 9 minutes from airport but you could not hear any planes. Villa on a hillside and if you suffer from any heart condition it is tough going walking from villa into village. Swimming Pool not heated we were unable to use it as it was so cold. My fault I did not enquire about heated pool before I booked. No local information material provided about taxi, restaurants etc so do your research before going. Pyrgos is a lovely traditional Greek village with very friendly locals. It gets busy at certain times when the cruise tours visit. A steep walk up to the castle & church is worth it for the amazing views. The little supermarket sells most things you would need. The rooms were extremely comfortable and the views were breathtaking. The staff was so kind and they picked and dropped us to the hotel in their own cars from the bus stop. They even left us snacks and food the day we checked in as it was very late. There are several amenities in the room including your own crockery, coffee machine etc and the breakfast is amazing including the dedicated outdoor open air breakfast lounge. We chose the Deluxe Room, and it was really spacious, comfortable, well equipped, perfectly cleaned. The breakfast is amazing, with many choices including when you have intolerance. Nadia and her colleagues are very helpful, available for any question - they provide a 5-star hotel service and are the cherry on the cake of staying at Arotron ! There is a lovely panoramic view of the sea and the whole island. You can even see the sunset from the terrace. The accomodation is very well located for visiting the island and the beaches. You feel better than in a hotel, with an apartment cleaning service. And the host and housekeeper were so nice. I wish to thank them again for the warm welcome and hospitality.
