Limnos (Lemnos) has a lot to offer. Beautiful scenery, ancient ruins, amazing history and a relationship with WWI. Beautiful sandy beaches. excellent low priced tavernas and lovel ylocal white wine. The people are very friendly and helpful. Exploring the island in a car is ideal for adults as it has a very good road network. If not hiring a car there are small coach tours which are useful to get to know the island of Hyfaistos. Mirina is a beautiful town that has the following within walking distance; Ferry Port a few hundred metres away. Nearby beaches are safe, sandy and relaxing. Excellent quality and variety of restaurants on the waters edge and in the town. Fantastic bars - both lively and quieter ones. Nearby AB and LIDL supermarkets. Shelter from strong Aegean winds. Captivating view of Byzantine/Venetian/Ottoman castle. MAGNIFICENT sunsets with Mount Athos visible on the horizon. Cinema. We stayed there for five days after we returned our hire car - you need one to see the rest of the island, but not Mirina. Beautiful and historical town on an equally beautiful and unusual Aegean island. A visit to the Kastro (fortress) overlooking the town and the sea is a must, as well as the old port and the Romaiko to the north, both on their own waterfronts with historic Greek Neoclassical buildings. The covered Agora (market) in the town centre is filled with lots of shops, restaurants and is covered with pergolas and flowering vines the keep the sun at bay during the hottest part of the day. The place was beautifully decorated and clean, making it feel really cozy and welcoming. The amenities were excellent, with a comfortable bed, modern kitchen appliances and a study-work place. The location was also perfect, very close to the beach and easily walkable from local attractions, restaurants and bars of Myrina. The communication with Panagiotis went above and beyond, as he was available and reachable anytime we needed recommendations.
