I was only there for the weekend and could have stayed...
I was only there for the weekend and could have stayed longer. There are lots of options for walks on your doorstep and it is beautiful. The Monsal Trail is also perfect for cycling- straight and flat, the route of an old railway. The walk I took went from forested walkways, to river stepping stones to Victorian lime kilns and was thoroughly enjoyable. There are also interesting places to visit a short drive away. When I return I’d like to visit Eyam plague village museum, as I do enjoy a bit of social history. Full of long gone industrial history.
Full of long gone industrial history. A very easy flat trail to walk or cycle (The Monsal Trail) and places to abseil from and rock climbing very close by. Property was in a beautiful location ideal for walkers and pet owners. The apartment had everything you needed and was dog friendly. The Anglers Rest pub had amazing staff, tasty food which we sampled and also allowed dogs. The location is exceptionally beautiful and peaceful, most of the time only the sound of birds and sheep . Fill your car with provisions and you never need to use it as endless walks from the door. Love the landscape and the ever present history. Walked both directions along the Monsal Trail. A fantastic location for walking as the accommodation was a few steps from the monsal trail. Accommodation was behind a pub so there would normally be meals and drinks served every day, however, with covid restrictions, the food times were very limited.
