Before coming for the weekend My friend said “I don’t like Ipswich!” Well Ipswich! How you’ve changed her mind! Two hotels, shopping and a Rend Collective gig at the Corn Echange and she is happy to come back. 😊 The Muthu hotel was beautiful and a nice bit of luxury and the Easy hotel is nice and clean, basic but perfect for a night at a gig. Of course there is the football stadium, a very fine sight now that is has been rejuvenated and the two statues of Ramsey and Robson (outside and a reminder that no other club has provided England with two international managers straight from domestic success, one even managed the World Cup winning team) as well as that of Kevin Beattie add to the sense of honour. Beyond that there is the modest but impressive splendour of Christchurch Mansion set in the verdant Christchurch Park, historic buildings like The Ancient House with its characterful pargeting, the much improved dockside area and residents who usually take time to get to know but are worth the effort. Never been before. I'm not a townie / city girl but everyone was friendly. I was very surprised as to how courteous the drivers in Ipswich were compared to other towns / cities. The town has vast potential, especially for those interested...
The town has vast potential, especially for those interested in built heritage with a vast number of historic buildings, but overall it has the sense and feel of a ghost town, hardly any one around apart from numerous homeless people who unfortunately have nowhere to go but the shop doorways. Many interesting shops have limited opening hours and overall it is not a particularly happy place to be. I got an apocalyptic feeling wandering around, OK looking up at the glorious architecture, but not so good at Street level..Guest review byAnonymous

I've pretty much stopped using hotels in Ipswich when I need to stay as this is a much nicer experience. The owner is really friendly and accommodating, the place is spotlessly clean, the facilities are everything I'd need an d more. So much nicer to have more space than just being confined to a hotel room and the little extras such as a pint of milk and a loaf of bread are fantastic. Bed was very comfortable (medium softness bed). Shower and WC facilities good. The only negative was no handrails in the bath which, when taking shower, I feel is really important. Breakfast was fabulous and again the team were wonderful so overall for a 3 star this is a great hotel. The room was spotlessly clean. Looked newly decorated. Bed and pillows are so comfortable, and there is no noise as they face a quiet side road. Love the Rituals products in the bathroom,very high end. Breakfast buffet full of choice. Everything was so fresh they even had fresh ginger if you wanted to make a tea.
