i enjoy viewing architecture & art, so the old buildings whether occupied or abandoned I find interesting to check out. I was total self sufficient with my food so did not eat out locally. Birkenhead & its adjacent districts are fairly well sign posted. After requesting parking spaces, we arrived to find not just no private parking at the location but any parking on the street had to paid for, so be wary of this - there is NO parking available, if the spaces are all filled up. Also, after highlighting there was no heating, the owner said I should have called him to ask about it, which I wasn't going to do after initially calling him to explain about lack of wifi/smart TV. so I would suggest some basic instructions on where to find and how to operate the heating to be printed up and left in the kitchen, so future guests can turn it on themselves and not be cold through the night, like we were.Guest review bySimonUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Where we stayed it was within easy reach of a lovely walk a long the front by the Mersey going all the way to New Brighton. It's about 2.5 miles but on a summer's evening well worth doing as there is plenty of entertainment and restaurants in New Brighton. A quiet area and a bit neglected but some beautiful architecture and some good places to visit. We enjoyed an open mic night at THE SWINGING ARM, a meal at the lovely vegan eatery JORO, and the Woodside Village stalls at the weekend. The hosts could not have been better. They were kind and thoughtful, letting us book in a little early so we could go into Liverpool for the afternoon and evening. They were very sociable and funny which made us feel very at ease. The off street parking was a welcome bonus and the area seemed safe and fine, although we did wonder on approach as there were some seedy port areas not too far away.
