Not much to dislike. Beautiful walks everywhere. Steeped in army history. Lovely views from The Rampards and the river walk so peaceful despite the early morning rain! Good choice of eateries both during the day and at night. Even in November the place was busy so best to try and book a table in advance. I went to Limoncello in the evening. Great walks and massive choice of great places to eat. A walk round the ramparts and Lowry trail were great. Repas 7 great for food and live music on a Saturday evening and the sharing platters at Atelier are a great lunch option. Best to book at both.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

A lovely place with so much history and retaining so much...
A lovely place with so much history and retaining so much of its past. Great location for day trips into the Scottish Borders or Northumberland. Plenty buses ,trains if you want to explore further afield. Lots of good restaurants, pubs and cafes and a lovely beach. Furthermore very friendly and helpful locals.
