Plenty of National Trust and other "Brown Sign" properties and attractions close to the location. Only ate at the Appleby Inn, and the cafe at Moira Furnace as it was January, so many attractions were not open till the weekend, but all that information was available online when we planned our trip. Very friendly and helpful staff. Wonderfully clean room and excellent food options in the restaurant. We used the hotel as it was only ten minutes away for an event at Statfold Barn Railway the next day. Easy to get to as not far from the M42 and also very close to Twycross Zoo! This time was slightly different in a not so good way. We had a table for 8 and although the food was up to normal standard the service was not. As we were staying in the hotel by the time we completed our meal it was approximately 10pm. We felt we were in the way of staff leaving for the end of shift and felt uncomfortable staying to chat.
