A bustling town with independent shops, cafés and restaurants. A wide esplanade and a very safe beach make it ideal for families. The people are friendly and will help if your French is not up to askinng questions. Very busy on a Sunday so if you want lunch go in early. Wimereaux is a typical seaside town, and not one that I would choose to return to except that we required a hotel that took dogs. There are plenty of reasonable quality restaurants and tourist gift shops but nowhere to exercise dogs on grass or a natural surface. The town is clean and generally felt safe (however, as we were eating supper at a restarant on the main street, approximately 50 migrants (one boat load) walked past, heading for the beach. We have visited and stayed in Wimereux many times, sometimes with friends, other times with family. We love it there: it's by the sea, has many restaurants and shops. It's also within a short distance from both the car ferries at Calais, and also the tunnel. Fantastic coastal town, with easy access to the Eurotunnel and ferries. We love visiting every year - so many great places to eat and the beach is wonderful. Also a great location to explore the surrounding area. Wimereux has it all: beautiful walks on the beach and on hills north and south, longer hiking options (beach and countryside) if you want, many restaurants and a few cute cafes and bars, the typical foodtruck with french fries, a small tourism office and many little shops. WW2 history fans, as well as late 19th century fans, will be able to go back in time with a number of nazi bunkers still visible along the beaches and countryside, as you can see the British coast on a clear day from here. On top of that: a bus and a train line bringing you to Boulogne-sur-Mer or Calais regularly, so you don't need a car. Hitch-hiking is also fine here, as long as you are respectful of course.Guest review bySchamsFrance

However the rental company could have left a better ‘welcome pack’. Supplying 1 toilet roll when there are 2 toilets and no tea, coffee, milk, water for your arrival is poor. A hair dryer and better instructions on amenities is required in both languages. Some care should also be taken on the cleanliness of the property and furniture outside. There was a lift to the appartment. The private parking was a real bonus as sometimes it's very difficult to find a space in Wimereux. Handover of the keys was efficient and simple.
