A 'Most Beautiful Village of France' and rightly so.
A 'Most Beautiful Village of France' and rightly so. Old chateau (which you can visit) on the Loire and other old buildings abound. Very well curated with good signage and explanations. As you leave Montsoreau you come to Candes St Martin (another MBVF) just along the river which is also well worth a visit. Spectacular church and many other old buildings. The property is beautiful, and we had a lovely spacious comfy ensuite room. Marie served a lovely breakfast of bread and pastries in the morning. We also got to meet her sweet dog :) Would definitely recommend staying here in the stunning village of Montsoreau. Do a walk around the village (and neighbouring Candes St Martin) as it’s very beautiful. Also would recommend eating at Le Montsorelli which is a 3 min walk from the property. Hotel is set against cliff side: challenging stairs and streets would not suit anyone with limited mobility, and breakfast is in atmospheric cellar. Good meal at half board rate, although best dishes may need supplements. The pool is fabulous - cleaned every day, lovely temperature, for our exclusive use and a very good size. The bedroom and garden space was beyond our needs! Our teen boys were in the pool every day and we had a lovely al fresco meal in the top BBQ area overlooking Montsoreau and the Loire - beautiful view!
