We are very pleased to have found this 'hidden gem'.

We are very pleased to have found this 'hidden gem'. The village of Caylar is beautiful and has many nice looking restaurants and bars with food at very reasonable prices. The owner/staff are very friendly. The hotel is also truly 'dog friendly'. We will definitely stay again on our trips down to Spain. Although the facilities are basic the rooms are well maintained and clean and the equipment supplied is functional. Certainly one of the best value for money hotels we have stayed at.

Le Caylar is a village with history dating back to the Knights Templar. It is a great overnight stop for travelling to/from Spain and we would happily stay two nights and explore the surroundings more. It was raining when we arrived and the Cafe provided great shelter and a warm welcome for us, including our 4-legged friend. They recommended a great zero-alcohol, locally made beer, Goxoa. We ate at their restaurant in the evening and enjoyed their rustic beef casserole ... and more of the lovely beer! My school-girl French deserted me and my 'Fran-ish' (when you think your speaking French, but it comes out in Spanish, si? - I mean oui?) caused great amusement - and patient understanding (I did try!). Caylar has lots of intriguing small streets and lanes to explore. Can't wait to go back again.

Great location in a "Village Etappe" and very easy going hosts! My dog was more then welcome and it was very nice to hang out in the garden. After a long day of driving this is where you can relax :)

19 August 2022 Good Morning I contacted by email Gites du Caylar at 19h57 on 17hth August 2022 explaining that I will arrive 1h30 late for check in (23h30 instead of the 22h00 limit) . First the landlord accepted our late arrival on the phone. Then the landlady called afterwards and that shen cannot recieve us and expained that they are working 18h00 a day and they are not an hotel. She also told us that she will not let us in , there is no possibility to let us in without a person at the reception and that we should look for a different accomodation. The reservation was canncelled by Gites du Caylar at around 6h30 on 18 . August 2022. Given that I was charged 150€ with no discount for being supposedly late 1h30. I asked the booking help to book to ask for a refund which was declined in its entirety. No percentage was given. Questions 1/ Why can t I see the the e mail exchange that I had with Gites du Caylar any more on the platform? I called the help desk, they have sent me the conversation by email but were unable to povide me with a reason 2/ Why am I unable to describe in the comment section of Gites du Caylar my reservation problems? Kind regards Jose Sarafana

Lovely friendly welcome and the rooms were perfect with big comfy beds and large rainfall type showers with two towels each. Coffee and Tea making facilities. The breakfast was fabulous with more than enough choice to fill you up for a great start to the day. We loved le Caylar and would definitely stay again when we return.

We were very late due to EV charging problems, called the hotel to explain our late arrival. The usual late arrival facilities were out of order. The staff took all pains to get us in even after midnight in pouring rain, she returned from home in her pyamas to let us in. Class treatment to not a customer down.

The hotel is well located just off one of the main North/South arterial roads in France - also La Caylar is an ancient and dramatic village in The Grand Causses...
