Whether you’re climbing the iconic El Peñol rock for panoramic vistas, strolling through the vibrant streets adorned with ornate zócalos, or gliding across the serene lake on a boat tour, every moment in Guatapé is infused with charm. It’s a place that invites you to slow down, soak in the scenery, and feel genuinely connected to nature and local life. However, the only negative to say is that many roads are not paved, which is due to the government's and private conflicts, for such a tourist area is a shame to see that. Hopefully it can improve.

    Super great local lake getaway vibes.

    Super great local lake getaway vibes. Take a boat tour of the lake (sizes range from a private solo tour up to a big party boat); climb the gigantic rock if you don’t mind the 650 steps up & down; visit the vegan restaurant a couple blocks off the main square; talk to the locals - they’re super friendly!

    Guatape is beautiful and the food is 10/10.

    Guatape is beautiful and the food is 10/10. It’s the complete opposite of the city though so it depends on what vibe you are looking for. I definitely would recommend staying at the Brown’s if you are spending a night or two in Guatape. We went there for dinner and then again to spend the day at the beach club snd it was amazing.

    It is a full house and perfect for a family staying for a few days. For us, or anyone staying one night, I would say this. It is difficult to find after dark, but the owner did send a tuk tuk to get us after we couldn't find it.

    What a great place to visit.

    What a great place to visit. We are coming back to climb Piedre del Penol and spend more time with the friendliest people I've ever met with beautiful zocalos, art, restaurants, I can't say enough good things.

    A great location to enjoy nature and good food. It is quite diverse so you can have the local colombian experience or get lost in the middle of the nature in a boutique hotel enjoying the views and amazing food

    Every part of La Pausa is perfect. The cabanas are private, have a beautiful view and are curated so well. You have everything you need for a luxurious, relaxing stay. We loved not ever needing to leave the cabana thanks to the extremely attentive staff and room service. A little tip if you’re arriving on the bus from Medellin - you can get off the bus in El Penol, which is much closer to the property than Guatape. Don’t bother reading any more reviews, just book it. You won’t regret it. We wish we could have stayed longer :).

    We booked this last minute and I’m so glad we did. The hotel is beautiful, Sebastian and his team are so friendly, and the food is delicious. The pool area is lovely with a great view. Plus, the hotel is only a quick drive away from Guatapé and El Peñol. Unfortunately we could only stay one night, but we’ll be back.
