FAQs about hotels in Beijing

From Chinese Dynasties to Cultural Dynamics

A world-renowned gem, sprawling Beijing has magnificent monuments and peaceful parks. At its heart is the world’s largest square - Tiananmen, surrounded by important museums and the amazing Forbidden City. This 15th-century, walled complex of palaces neighbours Jingshan Park and Beihai Park with its imperial garden.

Opposite Tiananmen Square is the ultra-modern National Centre for Perfoming Arts, a beacon of the city’s culture so impressively displayed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the Bird’s Nest Stadium.

To its east is the UNESCO World-Heritage listed Summer Palace, a lakeside retreat of emperors, while also UNESCO listed is the grand Temple of Heaven in Chongwen district, where remnants of Ming dynasty city walls are visible. Nearby are several hutongs, narrow alleys whose traditional architecture contrasts with wider, modern roads including Beijing Financial Street, the city's business area.

The most popular Beijing shopping street is Wangfujing, and other must-see sights include the giant pandas at Beijing Zoo and the Great Wall of China, an easy day trip from Beijing.

As you would expect from the capital of the world’s most populous country, there are a good number of 5-star hotels in Beijing on Booking.com, mainly in the Dongcheng and Chaoyang districts. There are also several hotels near Beijing Capital Airport in the north-east.

Loved China as a destinantion, Beijing was least favourite though, but also because it was Golden Week and incredibly busy, we knew that so we had made the choice beforehand, going to the Great Wall was a highlight, along withe Summer Palace and the Hutong district around the Bell & Drum Tower, we visited the Olympic area as well which was interesting and of course Tianamen Square and the Forbidden City, both of the latter were so crowded that we felt a bit underwhelmed by them. Eating Peking Duck in Beijing is a must of course and ours was great, you can order a 1/4 1/2 or full and will come with all the extras you need. If you go to the Great Wall my advice is set off no later than 6.30 so you have chance to enjoy before the crowds arrive later, and you can always put your feet up later !

Travel to Beijing at the low season - mid to end of the September. The Great Wall of China is a must visited place. Had so much fun sliding down on toboggan. The shopping malls are huge & awesome and lots of varieties. People are friendly to help. It is easy to travel around with public transport - subway and public bus (RMB2 per ride regardless distance). Worth of money spent stayed a night at Universal Studio Hotel with 4pm entrance on the day of arrival and an hour earlier entrance the next day. Managed to go on all the rides without long queue.

Beijing is such a great place.

Beijing is such a great place. I felt so safe walking around the streets and parks with my grandmother at night. The place so well lit up and the people are so nice. This was my Grandmother's first time in Beijing and she said would definitely come back because of the people.

Beijing is a must-see for anyone travelling to China, I recommend a few days there. The Forbidden City, the Great wall and the Summer palace are must-see for anyone interested in historical architecture and experiencing an ancient culture. However, there is also plenty to do besides that - the hutongs are an amazing way to experience traditional culture in the modern day, as well as buy handmade souvenirs and jewellery. There are massive modern shopping centres with plenty of Chinese and international brands. There are traditional restaurants and swanky modern bars. There is also Gubei water town, offering a great day-trip for anyone wishing to see a bit of nature and quaint town houses. Beijing offer something for everyone.

Although the location was a little further out of the tourist area, this was actually a good thing. Given that Alipay offers such cheap taxis, the distance was not an issue. The hotel was clean and the staff did everything they could to help me as a first time tourist in Beijing, well, actually China. I was quite jetlagged when I arrived so ate in the restaurant - the peking duck was amazing!

Very nice hotel, with classic style decoration in the center of Beijing. Easy walk to subway stations and Wangfujing shopping street. Impressive hall and atrium inside the hotel. The staff is very attentive, and they are everywhere ready to help you. The indoor swimming pool is a good place to chill out with the children. Good shops and restaurants nearby.

The location of the hotel is excellent - there is a subway station nearby. It is also within a walking distance to Wangfujing street. The hotel lobby is very beautiful and welcomes you pleasantly. The room was clean with a spacious bathroom. If I come back to Beijing, I would love to stay at this hotel again.

The gym at this premises, is actually very good for a hotel. Has all the essential equipment for a full workout. Located in the centre of Beijing, everything is a short trip away, (within 2-3km). Next to the railway station but China is convenient simply using didi saves time, and it isn’t too expensive.
