It is a small island with limited facilities, so go prepared. Visiting the Malaspina Galleries rock formation is a must see, close to the ferry terminal. Driving around the island is easy, although there are some unpaved roads that cross the centre.

A charming island with few conveniences.

A charming island with few conveniences. The major coffee shop looks warm and welcoming but the coffee--my cappuccino, at least--seemed to be missing actual coffee. Or else it was just weak? Just water and foam? Unfortunately we are used to more luxury and conveniences so its charms were largely lost on us.

Charming island - a hidden treasure so close to Nanaimo - a mere 25 minute ferry ride away. Largely forested island. Many artists - much creativity evident. Simple life. Beautiful views of the sea, other islands, coast mountains. A couple of lovely restaurants and great coffee shops. A few glorious remnants of the ancient forests. Pages Resort well worth a visit for accommodation next to the marina. A car is essential for visiting the island.

What a beautiful place to have a time out in.

What a beautiful place to have a time out in. They have everything from beaches to golfing and shopping there's even a huge thrift store there . Lots of places to explore . It's just an amazing little place to go , and being that your on an island you immediately feel disconnected from the hustle and bustle of everyday . We are definitely going back .

We loved our time on Gabriola.

We loved our time on Gabriola. The Malaspina Galleries are a must-see, and we also especially liked Drumbeg Park and Sandwell Park. Walks along the beach and in the forest feed our souls, and Gabriola more than fit the bill in that regard.
