Plus they really went out of their way to help me get to my next location - including calling the bus companies to make reservations. It's not luxurious but that wasn't what I needed. Cozy and convenient to get to snowboarding, it was great!

Good access to restaurants and shops in Kutchan. The cabin is beautiful and warm. Love the all-wood construction, and all the cute accents with branches and sticks. The bath is comfortable, no worries about hot water, and the kitchen is compact and good to cook simple meals. The staff was helpful, friendly, and accommodating! Rhys and his team made our experience truly magical. This was our first time in Japan, and even months before we arrived, Rhys and his team patiently answered all our questions. Once we got there, their support was unmatched—helping with everything from pick-up and ski equipment rentals to booking lift passes and drop-off, all while answering our endless questions. They also created a warm, friendly environment where guests could easily interact. The breakfast was excellent, and the lodge’s location, right next to the gondola, allowed us to grab our skis and hit the slopes—or return—whenever we wanted to. The rooms were cozy, the amenities thoughtfully detailed, and everything was just perfect. Honestly, our family of four (kids aged 15 and 12) couldn’t have asked for more. This was our best vacation ever!

Sato-san was an amazing host who made my stay easier whenever he could (e.g. by dropping me off at Kutchan station for a bus to Rusutsu). The house is a classic ski lodge, and amazing that this option still exists when so come of Hirafu has come to be dominated by giant, sterile hotels. Hope Sato and Lodge Cowbell are there for years to come!

There is electricity but you can feel as if you were living very close to the nature. Moreover, Akira and Kyoko are adorable hosts, always happy to help and support your travelling plans. They show the true hospitality spirit and make your stay there very sweet. PS: The place is so quiet, that during the night, all you can hear is the sound of snowflakes hitting the ground. Terrific.
