We stayed as a couple for 11 days in this beautiful cottage 1 minute from the beach. It is so quiet and you can relax and retreat very well. There is also a whale skeleton and several beaches are within walking distance. It is also a kitesurfing paradise and there are many donkeys here. You can easily cater for yourself, but there are also several restaurants nearby. The owners are next door and are happy to help at every opportunity. We would come back any time. :-)

If you never been to Kalpitiya, it has a sense of being on the outskirts of civilization. Here you stay nestled among the houses of the locals and share the beach with its fishermen. Beside great kite- and windsurfing (and endless beaches of course), there is not a ton of things to do in Kalpitiya. Scuba diving is good, when there is visibility. Dolphin watching is also a possible activity, but quite an expensive one that last a couple of hours. You won’t find any city center with shops, bars and restaurants near, but you can of course visit other resorts and use their facilities. However you should know that you have a very good restaurant on site if you stay at the Sea Sand Resort! This establishment is made up of about 10 small bungalows with a restaurant. The bungalows are quite basic, but very clean and comfortable and represents good value for money. Within about 10 minutes or more on foot, you can reach surf schools and beaches. From my own experience I can promise that you will be very well taken care off if you chose to stay at Sea Sand Resort.

We initially planned to stay at Agro Village Kalpitiya for just one night but ended up staying for two. The wonderful host, Pereira, took great care of us. The food was so delicious that we had all our meals there during our stay! The shrimp and tuna were incredibly fresh. There's also a massage hut on the property where a masseur comes by appointment. My husband and I enjoyed a great massage in the evening at a good price. Nearby is a fantastic beach with a bar (next to Elements) and a kitesurfing school. I highly recommend visiting—it's a quiet, empty beach with wild donkeys roaming around. Our son was absolutely thrilled!

Great friendly staff, food was brilliant value for money especially for evening meal, the rooms were something out of this world though. From the outside bathrooms, to big comfy bed. Ram has been an incredible host, making our experience truly amazing. aside from the beauty of this place, the comfort, the equipments made to enjoy without worrying about anything, he and the chef made this stay outstanding. they showed us their garden, we could enjoy learning stuff with them, talking for hours, having all our needs and beyond their priority. really, i would not recommend any other place in the area if you are into bohemian luxury and sharing with the locals.

We loved the house which is full of beautiful antique furniture and has a cool veranda under a shadey neem tree. Dili is an exceptional cook and we eat the best Sri Lankan food of our trip so far. The family were so very welcoming and friendly.
