The hotel is situated in a very ancient building close to the cathedral. The ladies who run it told us that it was built in the 17th century by the land suveyor of "the king". It has been restored carfully and with excellent taste, modern and minimalistic, with everything you need and very functional. Since it is an ancient building, the premises are somehow narrow, but very scenic. Our room was beautiful, the bathroom top, the breakfast was excellent, the style of care personal and attentive. We forgot our Ipad there, they sent it back to us (to Germany) within a week. They also organized a reservation for dinner for us in a nearby restaurant which was very good. Vézelay is a crazy place. It is hyped up in every tourist guide on the Bourgogne you can find, but it is actually a one street village on the top of a mountain whose only attraction is an oversized cathedral on the Way of St. James, and some tourist shops for decorative arts (if you like that). Rural exodus is unmistakable, there are several buildings for sale, and the ladies who run the hotel told us that the village has only 70 regular inhabitants left, the rest are pilgrims and tourists. We only stayed for one night, passing through on our way back home, and for us it was perfect as it was. The hotel is great, very recommendable, the surrounding landscape is beautiful and possibly nice to explore wandering (we didn't try). Vézelay also seems to be a hot spot for pilgrims who find company there.

Rustic but attractive small hotel in the beautiful hilltop village in Vézelay. Our balcony had lovely views over the wonderful surrounding countryside, and our slightly quirky bathroom had everything we needed including a good sized bathtub. Choice of restaurants which were all within walking distance. Very good value for money.

I had the most incredible experience staying at À la Renommée Hotel in France. From day one, Laurence and Stéphanie, the lovely owners, made me feel so welcome and were incredibly helpful. They went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed. The view from my room was absolutely stunning, and the bedroom itself was cozy and beautifully decorated. I truly felt at home throughout my stay. It’s also worth noting that the hotel is only a 30-minute walk to Vézelay, with breathtaking views along the way, following the pilgrim’s path. It’s a lovely and peaceful walk. A big thank you to Laurence and Stéphanie for making my visit so special. Also, I have to mention that the wine, honey, and fresh truffle they sell are absolutely amazing! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a charming, welcoming, and peaceful getaway.     The hotel was ideally located in Vezelay, with a 10min walk uphill through the village to the church, a very beautiful place. Family room at top of hotel was a good size .Breakfast was good, with the best fresh orange juice I had tasted during time in France. Went to a restaurant next door for evening meal which was good valve for money .The car park had limited spaces, so we parked in the public car park outside the front of the hotel for 6euros per day. Vezelay is a lovely village and worth a stop over .

    Ideal location for a visit to Vézélay. The instructions on how to reach the car park were very clear and we appreciated the guidance on booking a restaurant. Our room was very comfortable and it felt more like staying in a house than a hotel
