Our host was extremely pleasant. The house and our room was an eclectic mix of artwork, ceramics and furniture. Breakfast was good and substantial as was the evening meal. The location had a lovely view up the mountain but directions to the house are needed, and were provided, as it is off the main through road.

The hospitality and friendliness of the owners. Small-town-friendly, acceptance and help. The cottage was neat and clean and a wonderful place to lay your head after a long trip. The owner, (Bluegum) Johan, phoned around to help with information. The trip was a family tree visit to find out more about where our family came from and did. We also went to a restaurant/pub ( Green pub & restaurant) where we meet with some wonderful people from the area who then helped us with a lot of information about the history of the area. An amazing time in Smithfield.

Purple House is a charming place. We got a friendly welcome, a delicious braai, slept in a comfy bed and had a hearty breakfast. Thank you, Johan, for your hospitality. We'll come back.
