J-Hoppers Kumano Yunomine Guesthouse is situated in Hongu, a 10-minute drive away or a 70-minute walk on the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Route from Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine. Extremely kind and accommodating staff who went out of their way to make our stay both possible and exceptional despite no obligation to do so. Beautiful, comfortable, and clean facilities with private onsen that hit the spot just right.

Ideally located just a 10-minute walk from the iconic Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Guesthouse Soi offers various rooms including private Japanese-style rooms and dormitory rooms. This was a very pleasant place to stay. The room was very comfortable and clean. The bed was very comfortable and had a heating pad for the back. Good Japanese breakfast. Great area to reach most of the attractions, but not too crowded with tourists.

Terletak di Chikatsuyu, 3-minit berjalan kaki dari Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art, NONAGASE GUEST HOUSE mempunyai penginapan dengan taman, tempat parking peribadi percuma, restoran dan bar. This place is a gem and a must stay if you hike on the Kumano Kodo! The Nonagase house belonged to the local Samurai clan and is being used as a guest house nowadays. So you get to stay in a place of historic charm. Nonetheless the guest house is quite comfortable and accommodating. The landlady aka manager Hitomi, alongside with her team, were splendid! To make the stay more easy for international guests, there are little notes left everywhere, which is truly endearing. In the back of the house there’s a beautiful beer garden which is open to passing hikers and guests alike. There you get the awesome-est bruschetta with home made goats cheese and all sorts of craft beer. Which brings me to the food: if you miss this, you will regret it! The owner of the guest house is Italian and the dinner was exquisite. Something you would never expect in the countryside of Wakayama. We would always come back to this place if we were to come to Chikatsuyu again.

I loved it there, it felt like home. Both of them were very nice, I don’t know a lot of Japanese but we still managed to talk on Japanese and English and they were so lovely! We found some same interests that we all liked so it was even easier to talk. Really really nice owners. You can also meet a lot of other people there from all around the world and I personally didn’t mind waiting for the bathroom. Breakfast was very delicious and always different! I really can’t say anything bad maybe my best stay in Japan until now and will try to come back again and see how my new friends are doing. You can rent towels or a toothbrush or bring your own. I felt like home and wish i stayed longer. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

Undoubtedly, this place was one of the best accommodations I have been. The place is spotless. Seiko is a Super Host. She was very helpful to my request. Getting out of the train station you can turn to the left and after crossing the railway it is a two-minutes walk, there is a mini supermarket just in front of the accommodation and a big supermarket 4 minutes up the main road. The Villa is so adorable, if you have time for a little stroll, you will enjoy it. I strongly recommend it.

The Minshuku is located in Chikatsuyu, which is a perfect location if you are hiking the Kumano Kodo. Whether you are taking two days from Tanabe or go all the way in one day, it is good to rest in Chikatsuyu. The Minshuku is very clean, with all the comfort of the room, kitchen and bathroom + shower. The best part is really Ike san hospitality, he can speak several languages and he is a great cook. From dinner to breakfast, including the lunch to go, everything he prepared was fully enjoyed. He is also very kind and overall interesting person to chat with. He definitely made our stay more comfortable.
