The setting was very nice, with close to all the attractions of the Mullingar area but in the countryside. The host's husband, who was filling in while she attended to family matters, was very friendly and even gave us a tour of his hurling stick manufacturing and shop. It's a gated yard, so it felt very secure, and the breakfast area had everything you needed for a little snack or a good start to the day!

The house is meticulously kept, and Bernie and Declan are lovely, friendly hosts. Breakfast included their own farm’s eggs and meats, with homemade breads. This stay made the end to a two week stay in Ireland so special and memorable!

On the West bank of the River Shannon, Shannonside House is set within large, private gardens. Guests can enjoy home cooking and free parking, and Athlone's centre is a 5-minute walk away. Linda is a great host. You feel welcome right away. The rooms of the B&B are spotlessly clean and cosy. I highly recommend this place!
