Staff were really friendly and go all out to make you feel comfortable. Although the house has a history of 150 years old, there were technology such as sound sustem, projector and even Karaoke over the BBQ dinner. Definitely recommended to have a stay

Our stay was perfect! We decided to enjoy the beauty of Aso a bit longer and booked the house quite late, but everything went great. The host was very kind and communicated with us in English. When we arrived, it felt like visiting parents in a cozy country home — we felt so comfortable. And the breakfast was delicious! Thank you for the warm welcome and a lovely stay — we and our kids really enjoyed it.

The owners are such a nice couple, very kind. We really enjoyed our days at hostel+cafe. The place is beautiful, very clean and confortable. The food was very tasty, Japanese traditional breakfast. We strongly recommend it.

Very beautiful, clean guesthouse that was renovated from an old japanese home. The owners are both very kind and went out of their way to make my stay as nice as possible. You can tell that they really care about this place! Aso station (startpoint for the tour bus) can be reached in around 20 mins with bus or train. At night it is quiet and even in the summer surprisingly cool. I highly recommend to stay here if you are visiting Aso!

An unbelievably cosy cottage situated in the most surreal grassy forest you will ever see. Mr H and his son were very nice and both wonderful souls. I look forward to coming again and talking late in to the night with Mr H.

Great place to stay in Takachiho. We arrived much later than anticipated due to the roads to Takachiho, but the owner went out of her way so we would be able to check in and get to shower and eat before the doors closed down. The place has multiple restaurants and bars around, and a gas station. Convenience stores are pretty far, so don't count on those unless you are willing to drive for a few minutes.
