Scenically set by the Oppstrynsvatnet Fjord, the family-owned Hjelle Hotel rests in a lush garden surrounded by mountains. Jostedalsbreen National Park is 5 km away. A gem in Norway. Spectacular views, great staff. The room in motel was perfect size. The dinner was amazing!!! They said “small buffet” - at first we thought about not going with price of 570 Nok per person, but I’m so glad we did- the food was wonderful and so diverse, and also it was big! Breakfast was smaller but still amazing. Great stay!

We liked it so much that we extended our stay (+5 days on New Year). Convenient location near the water with beautiful views, a sauna on the fjord is a 4-minute drive away, ski resorts are 1-1.5 hours away, a glacier is about 1.5 hours away and much more. The house is very warm with a fireplace, near which we spent family evenings watching movies. Over 10 days, we experienced different weather from +9 to -12, from rain to a snowstorm, the house was always cozy! Special thanks for the real New Year's mood for our children!!! The owner presented us a real Christmas tree with decorations. A huge surprise for us was to see the northern lights 2 days (31.12 and 1.01), which we didn't even dream of. We would be happy to come here many, many more times!!! We highly recommend it!

This is a beautiful property that has been in the family for generations. The entire property was beautifully maintained and our room was modern and spotless. The bed was so comfy and the bedding and pillows were great. Olav was the perfect host.

He also made the effort to set up a Xmas tree for us. House is warm and cosy, has a very well equipped kitchen, exactly what we needed for preparing our Xmas lunch.
