We have visited Laguna de Apoyo a few times in the past, and have stayed in different hotels. San Simian was a lot better than the others. It had access to everything we needed, AND it was a lot more quiet, it had lots of shade and beautiful gardens. There is a hike to the Catarina Mirador 100 m away from the hotel, which was a bonus. You wake up every morning with the sounds of monkeys, birds, squirrels and a beautiful view of the water. You can order a coffee thermos and have it ready for you when you wake up in the morning, before breakfast, so you can enjoy it in your room or in the hammock outside your room, or by the lake. The shower in the cabin we stayed in was open concept. What a lovely experience to take a shower under the stars! There is always warm water, which is a plus in Nicaragua The food is delicious, the staff are friendly and extremely helpful. Daniel, the server is always ready to help with whatever you need. Daniel, the owner is amazing, He has lots of great information about the area, and about other places to stay in Nicaragua. He is always making sure that you are well taken care of, and he takes great care of his staff. We are already planning out next stay at San Simian. Can't recommend it enough!

Very individual design and even with the busy hotel activity in the neighborhood Casa Bella is really calm. The high rise beds are very comfortable, with very intelligent solution for light switches and fans… very well working aircon. Kitchen equipped with basic ingredients, fridge with eggs and some drinks… we didnt use it, but it was nice to have the option. Dogs were not only welcome, they had a water bowl prepared in the common area. A small welcome board on the door was a very sweet plus to feel at home. Great to have the option to use restaurant service of Casa Marimba.

Built into the crater wall that encircles the lake, this little resort functions on various levels, literally. Pleasant landscaping from the road down to the beautiful water. The restaurant food is 'tan rica' even if the tasty cocktails 'no son muy fuertes'. The fish and the shrimp are great as is the 'desayuno incluido'. I loved hearing the Howler Monkeys up on the mountainside from late in the afternoon until after sunrise. Good birding out on the main road, too.

Offering a private beach area and water sports facilities, Laguna Beach Club is situated in Laguna de Apoyo in the Masaya Department. It was a bit of a splurge for our budget but so worth it!! Such a chill time in an amazing spot! Tasty food and sweet staff. Stay hear and experience what this lake has to offer!!!! The water is warm and perfect for a swim. You have free use of all the water vessels throughout the day. We watched howler monkeys eat their breakfast as the sun rose the next morning. So many beautiful birds. A variety of food. Across the parking lot is a little shop to get some snacks/ veggies/eggs if you want to use the kitchen. Many different hang out spots to set up at for the day. Don’t miss out on this magical place on your travels!
