I have travelled all over the world using Booking.com, including many boutique-type hotels. It is rare that a hotel exceeds my expectations in every respect. This one did. This hotel is a relatively new, well-situated hotel in the heart of the old town, Cartagena. We asked for a quiet room, and received one. The only disadvantage with the room was that windows did not look out on anything and that they were sealed, but the room was relatively quiet in a very noisy city. To have a balcony room with openable windows means a lot of noise at night in Cartagena. We preferred to sleep! The room we had was equipped with a comfortable king-size bed, lots of room and a very good bathroom, complete with a large shower and a Japanese toilet (which is relatively rare in my experience). We initially had some difficulty with the TV, but staff rectified the problem quickly. The AC worked well and the room is equipped with a ceiling fan if one prefers to use it- we used both. The design of the hotel, including the finishes, demonstrates a well-thought out, professional team was involved. I was particularly impressed by the overall design of the common areas of the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. The pool on level 4 is small but adequate for cooling down in a hot city. The hotel offers massage services. The companion hotel (Hotel Boutique Casona del Colegio) is available for meals and has a larger pool; it is located only 150 metres away, which is very convenient. For the cost, this hotel is a very good choice, allowing one to walk all over the old town and neighboring areas. Assuming that the hotel maintains its service standards and keeps its facilities in good condition, this is a hotel that I recommend without reservation.

The staff is the first think that I would like to highlight. They were very friendly, professional and always willing to support and make you feel comfortable. We were spending the days before and after our wedding at this hotel and they support us, provided us a spacious room, the cleanliness was very good. The comfort of both the bed and the pillows were just remarkable, extremely comfortable. They gave us a bonus to claim a lunch because of the length of our stay, which was a nice and unexpected touch. It is well connected to beach on Bocagrande and Castillo grande on walking distance.

Hotel is situated in the very heart of acient Cartagena. It is situated in a totally reconstructed colonial building and has stylish interior, spacious rooms and all the amenities you will need. A welcome dring and a massage is complementary, which is a nice touch. Personnel is nice and helpful.

Boasting a charming terrace with a pool, Hotel Balovento is set in a modern building in the Bocagrande neighborhood, just 2 blocks from the beach. Free WiFi and parking are available. Nice hotel, staff friendly and helpful, clean place, very good location, it has a 24 hrs supermarket beside the hotel many restaurants around, exchange houses, tours agency, souvenirs shop, etc. Very safe area for tourist, very good choice to stay when you travel to Cartagena
