Zeus Guesthouse -Free SJO Airport Shuttle & Car Rental is a recently renovated apartment in La Garita where guests can make the most of its garden and barbecue facilities. It was a fantastic stay! Very well maintained place with all-in! The hosts are really super nice and the transfers worked like charm, also! I think just because of them and this place it does worth to visit Costa Rica! :) Hints: -To get good hot water for the shower, put the knob to the middle, then don't pull it to the maximum to have the biggest amount water, but until midway. At least this worked for me like this. -A supermarket visit and the breakfast was done in 20-25 mins, total. That is still a good option in case of a late arrival and early departure. Besides, - this is more a note to the hosts -: maybe a bit more amenity in terms of biscuit or similar would be good. Apart the water which was of course, also great to have!

This was a great place to stay for one night.
This was a great place to stay for one night. For a small additional fee, I was picked up at the airport and very early the next morning I was taken to where I had to meet my tour bus. Also, after I left I discovered that I had left my phone charger in the room. I contacted them and they were kind enough to take it to the hotel in San Jose where I would be staying in a few days.

We spent 30 days in Costa Rica and loved it. Alajuela was only for flying to and from Costa Rica. It has horrible traffic and nothing worth seeing that I know of. But its airport has better flight connections for us than Liberia airport. The airport itself is good, but getting in and out is a hassle!

For us La Rivera is a take off and arrival point, so the easy airport access is important. It is an easy walk to a phone store or Pali supermarket for some basics, and the local pista, church and park give you a safe introduction to Costa Rica. There is not much else to do in the immediate area.

Proximity to Airport! This facility standards were substandard. My wife hurt her foot on a dangerous doorstop, sewer gas was overwhelming, no hot water, air conditioner was not hooked up, pumping hot air back into the room. The stairs right from ground level were dangerous. English was non existent with staff. They were courteous and helpful. There were no privacy coverings on the windows. Open hole in Bathroom ceiling.

Alajuela has everything I like in a city without much down side. It's clean and safe with many markets, shops, malls, transportation options, green spaces and restaurants. It even has a large dance school.

We did more in San Antonio than we expected to do.
We did more in San Antonio than we expected to do. The church in the center of town was welcoming, and there are a lot of restaurants with good food and service. The bussing to other areas (San Jose and Heredia) is well marked and has an appropriate schedule. Plus, the area felt safe to walk after sunset. Because of its convivence, we extended our hotel stay to stay in the area, and only bussed to San Jose for the day.

We like to stay here when we fly to SJO because it’s one of the last pick up locations for the Puerto Viejo shuttle, so it saves us up to an hour on the shuttle. They have a good breakfast with many options, the hotel is large and pleasant, and the staff is very nice. We’ve seen National Geographic tour people there, so it’s good enough for them too. We recommend it to friends flying in and shuttling to visit us on the southern Caribbean side.

Beautiful, brand new hotel with modern finishings and very helpful staff. We stayed here one night after flying into SJO. The nearby food court had a few good late night food options (til 10pm), which was convenient. The hotel food sounded great as well but we were looking for something less pricey.
