Kannawaen is an entirely non-smoking accommodation that features a garden, terrace and bar in Beppu. 100 metres from Hells of Beppu, the property is also 500 metres away from Jigokumushikobo Kannawa. The property is clean and beautiful. We also like the private outdoor hot spring! Staff is really nice and friendly.

Pension Yufuin prides itself on an outdoor public hot-spring bath featuring large rocks, that’s unique in Oita. It also offers a garden, a terrace and free WiFi at the lobby. An unbelievably helpful host and a beautiful location in lovely Yufuin made this one of the most memorable places that we stayed at in Japan. Highly recommended!

Excellent property. The private onsen’s were fantastic. Pricey for a solo traveller but worth it for the experience. I would definitely come back. Would also recommend this place to others, especially groups.

Room was super clean and modern and felt very luxurious. Free beer in the lobby was awesome. Good location close to everything in Kannawa. On-site onsens were really nice. Staff was great.

Oniyama Hotel features a hot spring bath and a 24-hour front desk with free luggage storage service. Beppu Station is 16 minutes by car from Oniyama Hotel. The onsens. The hotel has the roof-top one and the one on the ground floor. Both are excellent. If I visit Beppu again, I will book two nights.

Make sure to book dinner, which is served in an adjacent restaurant, which belongs to the hotel. Amazing standard of cooking, Japanese with some international influences. The breakfast, served in the hotel, is Japanese and excellent as well. Our room had a private bath and shower. On top of that, there are two Onsen in the hotel as well, who can be reserved for private use by the hotel guests. Free parking right in front of the hotel.
