Really nice property. However a really poor experience at the end of our stay spoiled it. Do better ‘The Retreat’.
Set 3.1 mi from Blue Lagoon, Guesthouse Grund provides accommodations and free WiFi in Grindavík. Some units also have a kitchen equipped with an oven and a microwave.

It wqs very clean, the room was big with private bathroom. No reception but the instructions to get the key and check-in time was very well communicated. Common space with kitchen to share with other guests was clean and nice.

The location is great. Minutes from the airport and the hotel has a shuttle that runs every hour. The breakfast buffet was very good and the service was excellent.

I liked everything there. The staff, both at the Reception and the Restaurant were very good and so helpful. Really professional. 😍

Small but comfortable. Excellent location to Main Street shopping and restaurants. Close to the airport, a 7 minute drive. .
Located in Keflavík, 12 mi from Blue Lagoon, Courtyard by Marriott Reykjavik Keflavik Airport features accommodations with a fitness center, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant.
Great location 10 minutes from the Blue lagoon. We stayed here on our first night in Iceland going straight from the airport to the Blue lagoon then checked in.
Not a lot here but there’s a pretty church here
Tip: don’t buy supplies in the airport shop - we stocked up & it cost us a fortune. There’s a Netto in Grindavík

Grindavik is a small, beautiful fishing village close to the Geldingadalur volcano (but not too close) and the Blue Lagoon. It has many excellent hiking opportunities and great restaurants. Grindavik is surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape. Whale-watching, fishing, mountaineering, very friendly people, safe environment, you name it, Grindavik has it all!

Great location for Meradalir.
Great location for Meradalir. Fabulous fish and chips at Papas - Grindavik is a fishing town, so all fish is fresh that morning. Lovely walking around the town. Very peaceful. Great for exploring south coast and peninsula. Only 25 mins from Keflavik.

We stopped for one night during our Iceland tour to visit the Blue Lagoon and Fagradalsfjall, the volcano that erupted in 2021 and is still smoldering several months later. Grindavik is a working fishing village with a few local restaurants, grocery store and pharmacy, so is a really good spot to stay for a day when touring Iceland. It is not touristy though so don’t expect lots of shops selling the usual.

This is a dock terminal terrible views, bad aspect for tourists, cabin super smaill no microwave, no waste basket in bathroom, nothing to sweep with, place is creepy, huge caping yard nezt to the property that makes it seem dangerous. Lonely area! For this price you can get a top notch place.

Grindavik is a lovely town with a huge fisherman history.
Grindavik is a lovely town with a huge fisherman history. It's super close to the Blue lagoon and volcano so, there are many options for hiking or relaxing. There's a grill place with a super nice man who told me a little about the history and life of Grindavik's people and he also sells awesome hotdogs. Wish I could've stayed longer but a huge storm came so I had to run away :)
It was quite nice to go into Grindavik after the midnight flight. The carless way to this guesthouse was fast and easy. The room itself was wery clean, equiped with towels, coffee, tea and with shared nice and clean bathroom and kitchen(looks new). All you need for one and even more nights, because from this place you can visit south, southeast of Iceland and Golden Circle as well. We used it as a starting point to travel arpund Iceland.
This was my second time at this guesthouse. Nice location, good facilities. Comfortable room and bathroom.
It is painfull to get a request from Booking for a review at this time. I know of the current situation in Grindavik, and I hope and prey that everyone stays safe and the volcano will not erupt this time. I do hope and pray that the evacation will end soon, everyone is home for Christmas, and the town will heal. Lots of love!
We stayed one night in Grindavik on the way to Vik and Hofn. The location is great in terms of how close it is to Keflavik Airport but there wasn't too much of interest to us as photographers in the area. There is a lighthouse and harbour a stones throw away which can be interesting. As a massive bonus the accommodation was very warm, clean and welcoming. We stayed during late winter and it was extremely cold outside.
Aside from the proximity to the Blue Lagoon, my favorite surprise was how warm and welcoming the owners are. They went above and beyond with their sincere hospitality and even helped me set up a private taxi tour in the morning before I flew home. The breakfast has a good variety: hard boiled eggs, various cereals, yogurt, granola, bread, cheese, some fruit and plenty of coffee. This is a great find!
Excellent base to visit the Fagradalsfjall active volcano (and Krysuvik) from, not only because it is close but also because the fumes are usually blown away from Grindavik. Spacious, new and well-equipped studio, with lots of storage space and very efficient self-checkin. In walking distance of several restaurants and a big supermarket. Close to the airport too. Very nice and helpful staff.
Great breakfast opportunity available in the fridge. Also for those who have to leave early - you can prepare a sandwich to go the evening before. The room was big (you can spot the sea from afar) and cozy, the beds very comfortable. The owners very friendly and helpful. There are maps for grindavik available and you also receive information on how to go to the fagradalsfjall volcano!
Bear in mind that there is no reason to stay in Grindavik unless you want a fast track to both Blue Lagoon and the airport, as there is absolutely nothing to do there, so you'll probably want to find some place in Reykjavik instead, which is gonna be dead cheaper. That being said, the accomodation was clean and well-equipped, so I guess there isn't much to complain about.
Loved this house! The husband and wife are super nice and fun to chat with. Right next to a playground and a grocery store. Plenty of dining choices nearby, as well as the blue lagoon. The woodwork was done by the owner, who has a shop downstairs, and they even put some drinks and chocolates in the fridge.
I feel like I could not have picked a better place to stay. the fridge was stocked with food to eat, plenty of coffee and soft drinks. The house was extremely clean and neat. There was also a swimming pool just down the road and if you mention you were staying a grindavik guesthouse you got in for free.
We were warmly welcomed by our host to this house on a quiet street in Grindavik. Shared bathrooms were large and clean, bedroom was pleasantly furnished and big enough for the three of us. Shared kitchenette was clean and stocked with breakfast food. Off street parking was a plus
Nice location close to the Blue Lagoon. You can walk down there through the lava field (~20 min) or take a free shuttle at the hotel. Our family room was comfortable and the breakfast was very good. Although it was quite expensive, overall, we enjoyed our one night stay there.
Very hip hotel at The Blue Lagoon with its own private lagoon and spa. Very relaxing, excellent helpful staff- thank you Thor. Wonderful room looking out onto the lava fields-amazing scenery. Lovely breakfast and dinner at Lava restaurant . The lagoon and spa were amazing.
Breakfast was good though we later realized similar to every other Icelandic hotel that offers breakfast. Aziz who manned the front desk was very friendly and informative regarding the volcano activity. Thanks to him we were able to see it erupting when we hiked over.
Beautiful, large, clean, spacious room. Very quiet and comfortable. Perfect for getting great sleep when you arrive in Iceland, or for relaxing on the last day before you leave. Honestly, the nicest room we had of any hotel in our entire Iceland stay.
Fun and different accommodations for our stay in Grindavik. Super clean—ladies actually cleaned the cottage and replaced our towels every day we were there, which wasn’t something we were expecting. Good location to volcano and short drive to capital.
Location was good for us. Easy self check in process. 11am checkout was nice. Room was clean and adequate. Shared kitchen space was also nice if you need it. Really close to Blue Lagoon and the Kef Airport which was great on our travel day out
