Location , food , staff . Location easy parking 2 minutes walk , 2 mins from cathedral and same again for castle . If you're into shopping only 10 mins walk to town centre high street and a nice walk around the waterfront . But a hike back up "steep hill" not for feint hearted but really not too bad ..... Food plenty of bars and restaurants around the hotel but we stayed in the antlers restaurant which is part of the hotel which also offers bar food . Drinks are well stocked however surprised at lack of "whisky" .... Breakfast plenty to choose from however our last day wife ordered fruit and french toast with maple syrup but the syrup did not materialise but the breakfast is a good choice .staff ....very good but chap who booked us in was a bit like end of shift and was polite but just "pointed" the way to the room however guy who was on door with bowler hat and tweed jacket on was top notch really helpful "showing us rather than pointing"... One other thing 10% service charge is standard on bill , don't do what I did and tip more !! ..... Definitely worth a stay though .....

FAQs about hotels in Lincoln

The Glory of Medieval England

Lincoln was a powerhouse of medieval England and retains amazing monuments from that period. In the Uphill district is the castle built for William the Conqueror. Inside its an original copy of the Magna Carta and its ramparts offer fabulous city views. Across the cobbled square which houses the large Christmas market is huge Lincoln Cathedral whose unusual façade features 2 tall towers, while another at its centre overlooks the Bishop’s Palace.

Connecting the cathedral quarter with the Downhill district is aptly named Steep Hill, a narrow street lined with unique shops and historic buildings including the Jew’s House. Even older are the Roman Newport Arch, Mint Wall and the well on Bailgate.

This road slopes down to meet the River Witham at High Bridge, a stone-arched structure with a half-timbered building atop that is the oldest of its kind in England. Lincoln boat trips depart from the Brayford Pool just west.

Another monument is the 18th-century Ellis Mill, opposite the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. The Collection combines an archaeology museum and art gallery, while The Lawn has a conference centre and the Joseph Banks Conservatory, displaying artefacts he brought back from adventures with Captain Cook.

Booking.com’s Lincoln accommodation covers luxury waterfront hotels, guest houses by the university and cheap apartments near the train station.

Lincoln is two towns, a lower one which is like many towns in England and an upper town, which is special. At the centre is a square across which the cathedral and castle face one another. The cathedral is so large and impressive that it dominates everything else

Great venue for a weekend away - you can walk everywhere (steep slope up to the Castle andCathedral). The Cathedral is stunning and the Castle worth the trip on it's own. The £16 ticket seemed a lot, but it was well worth it. A guided tour outside, a walk with audio set around the castle walls, a visit to the old prison and, to cap it all, to see the Magna Carta (one of the four existing copies in existence). With the cafe on site we spent a very full morning seeing everything - allow 4 hours to do it justice.

Lincoln is an underrated city - it has an amazing Cathedral and Castle, which are well worth a visit. Steep Hill is only for the fit, but worth it if you can. Lovely small shops and cafés line the route, so you can have a break if you wish. Also, you can visit free of charge art galleries like the Usher Gallery (Turner paintings). The people of Lincolnshire are very friendly and this is why I live here!

Good Things: Staff were very nice and helpful.

Good Things: Staff were very nice and helpful. Location was great, close to lots of places. Bad Things: No slippers in room even though I asked for them. Breakfast was not good, not enough food. Bathroom and toilet were too small The staff were really friendly, but there were some problems too. I asked for slippers but never got them. The breakfast did not have much choice. And the bathroom felt cramped because it was so tiny. The location was convenient at least, making it easy to walk around. Overall an okay stay, but could have been better if the issues with amenities were fixed

Lincoln is a good place to visit with a lot of history to look around. The cathedral area is walkable from the newer centre albeit up Steep Hill which as it's name suggests is tiring but worth it. There is a bus that goes from the bottom end of the city to the cathedral area.

This is a wonderful hotel. It’s really boutique like inside. Staff were all really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms all modern and clean. The restaurant was great, we had one dinner and two breakfasts within our party and it lived up every time. The second day we got car parking permits from reception which was a lovely bonus. We were a party of up to 11 over two nights. A couple of people want to visit Lincoln again and have said they’ll book The Tower Hotel next time.

I loved the location - set back behind the main road so it was very quiet. The rooms have been tastefully decorated and there’s have thought of everything you could need whilst there. My son used the sofa bed and it was surprisingly really comfy. The main bed was also very comfy. Parking was directly outside which made it easy … and it was walkable into Lincoln if we didn’t want to use the car. All in all it was a great stay!

Room cold old type air con that smelt when first turned on. Windows dirty/room dusty. Room old and tired. Bathroom spot light not working/big dints in the bath loo didn’t flush very well. Waited over 45mins for food. Meal for 4 my food came out and must have been under the heat lamp for a long while. The hotel was generally ok and in the perfect location just didn’t live up to the website information

A great place to stay to enjoy Lincoln. A short walk to the city centre. Hotel has parking (£8.50 for 24 hrs), is clean, warm, friendly staff and a very decent breakfast included in the price. The dining area for breakfast is really nicely furnished and a nice space to sit and chat whilst watching the world go by. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.

I love everything about the apartment and the location. It was just a 2-minute walk to the Lincoln Castle. I was welcomed with a bottle of champagne and cakes. Everything was perfect. And yes, aside from the smart TV, there was a DVD with an array of movies to choose from, which brought back some nostalgic memories for me.
