A good location in downtown Turrialba. The staff were helpful and friendly and we made use of the outdoor common areas - a backyard garden and a rooftop deck. We liked the clean kitchen. The property is somewhat idiosyncratic, about half-way between a hotel and a hostel. I think they were transitioning to a hotel during our visit. We, a couple, had a dorm room with two bunk beds and a private bath across the hall; a bit unusual but the facilities were fine.

The best 2 days of my week vacation in Costa Rica. If you go with the mindset of adventure, disconnection from internet, camping style you will have a blast. This is a team of guys that do everything for you. They drive you , they cook , by the way excellent typical food, they are your rafting and adventures guides , the photographer, they eat with you and tell you stories and history of the place , the fauna , and flora etc, The experience is amazing ! Arturo , Fernando Negro and Jesus Andres were the best. Thanks for an amazing 2days

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Only breakfast on site but they ordered and picked up dinner food at a local restaurant for us. 30 min drive from Guayabo national monument. Great view from our deck, saw a keel billed toucan from the deck in the morning.

The lady owner was very nice and happy to accommodate me with an early breakfast everyday. A bit far walking from Turrialba city center. Basic and small room but has everything one needs for sleep and shower. Internet was good.

We did a tour to the cheesemaking farm Herencia, high up on the slope of the volcano. Getting there via Google maps was a bit tedious but on the way back we got better directions - via Santa Cruz and Torito. The tour is a great experience! On the way back we visited the national monument at Guayabo.
We also tried to reach the Aquiares waterfall, but this is a bit difficult to find and we did not get there in time, had to turn back. The last stretch is climbing over big boulders along the riverbed.
The hotel was easy to find with a large sign so it was a welcome respite for us after our red-eye flight. Our room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The property is in a beautiful location on the hillside above Turrialba and our room opened up to a deck overlooking the valley. In the morning, we were served a wonderful breakfast of items grown in their garden and eggs from their hens (included in the price of the room). The owner was welcoming and accommodating of our every need and I just wish that we could have stayed longer!
Hotel Rivel is situated in a quiet spot at the end of a 4km trail. The River Tuis runs next to the cabins with a beautiful cascade. It was great swimming here as you could swim against the current. When you were tired the cascade gave you a tremendous back massage.
The campfires in the evening were great. The meals were also really good, as we were the only visitors the first 3 nights it was like having our own chef to cater for us. The hygiene in the kitchen was top.
the lodge is really fantastic.
it is lost in the nature and you have an outstanding view on the volcano.
we were really charmed by the breakfast taken in a little cabin with very nice view in the garden.
what to say about this incredible platform where you can watch the valcano the valley and some clouds hanging on it …
The hosts and the team are really nice and dedicated to offer you the best trip ever.
if you are looking for and incredible stay …
This was truly a unique experience in Costa Rica. We loved our stay here, start to finish. The staff were so warm and welcoming and the food was excellent! Our kids loved riding horses and relaxing in the hacienda with a good book. The grounds were stunning and we had a direct view of the volcano. The farm is so close to many activities and adventures, we can't recommend this place enough. We will be back!!
Mark and Annbella were fabulous hosts. The setting is gorgeous with an incredible vista from the lodge and the cabins. Wifi is available at the lodge which helped with making ongoing plans. Mark kindly suggested a navigation APP that worked better offline to get from place to place. Gorgeous flowers and plenty of bird sightings! Toucans galore!
Nice location, very accommodating and although it is in the city center it is very quite, clean and a good location to stay. Even though we only stayed here for a night as we were on our way to the Caribean side of Costa Rica, I would have stayed here for a few more days as it was a very comfortable and nice location.
Cabanas is situated in a particularly nice part of Costa Rica, close enough to the Monumento Nacional, a few water falls, the Turrialba and Irazu volcanoes and the town of Turrialba itself. The area is secluded and relatively quiet. The owners and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our cabin had good wi-fi.
Wonderful owners, kind reception. Interesting rustic hotel built by the owner. lots of wood, our room was large, wonderful views, nice little restaurant ( even though we arrived late the owners wife rustled up an amazing chicken and rice dish ). We really enjoyed chatting with them after dinner.
Comfortable bed in a room with basic furniture. The view on the terrasse is great and the host is very attentive and helpful.
Great Costa Rican breakfast with homemade bread, marmalade, everything freshly prepared. Nice cool mountain air and no mosquitos.
The grounds were beautifully landscaped with many trails that wrapped around the lagoon. The hotel building itself was picturesque and relaxing with many areas for a comfortable social. During dinner, we ordered a delicious meal made in their pizza oven.
The staff is very friendly and willing to help. The plus is that it is a hotel that is hidden away so if you want to feel in nature and have privacy it is a good place. The fire pit was a nice area and plenty of wood to keep the fire going all night.

we only stayed one night but truly loved the place and the room - definitely clean with a great kitchen and nice place to hang out outside ! a nice adress for anyone passing by Turrialba
