This was an unbelievably beautiful property! The dining area, pool side, and property are exceptional! The view from this hilltop location was great; it was breezy and pleasant even on a hot day. The staff were very kind and welcoming and the food is fabulous!! The included breakfast is wonderful and we had 2 delicious dinners as well. Great atmosphere!

What a way to welcome us to Costa Rica!! This place was such a lush, beautiful, tranquil place to start our first trip to Costa Rica! Grounds are just stunning with fauna and hummingbirds and butterflies abounding… a birdwatcher’s paradise. We also hear our first howler money onsite though we never saw him. Massages were out of this world good… and reasonable. Do not miss! Food was cooked to order and scrumptious and made with whole, fresh ingredients… so appreciate. Staff was so helpful and accommodating and the rooms are roomy and very, very quiet with comfy beds and pillows! Was just dreamy and wish we had stayed another night. We did have 4 wheel drive but did not find it at all difficult to get to the property… and never had to use our four wheel drive. We went at the start of dry season, so perhaps it’s different during rainy, but we found it easy to get to!

You must have a car to get around to the beaches of Montezuma and the roads are rough. Grocery stores are hard to find if you want to cook at all in your rented villa. Ocean super warm and wonderful--loved Tambor beach. Wonderful fresh fish market there.

Very small town with little to do. 3-5 nights is more than enough time to see the area. Tourists (and locals) on loud motorbikes and ATVs are everywhere day and night. Not the quiet jungle getaway we imagined.

Montezuma is such a great place.
Montezuma is such a great place. So chilled, the locals are so welcoming and it just does its own thing. There are a number of good places to eat in the very small town so try everywhere out especially in the farthest reaches of town. And shop around for trips. There can be quite a difference in price with the different outlets.
During turtle hatching season, be sure to go to the beach to the left of the town and you'll see them dug up and then marching to the sea. It's a heartwarming and unique experience. Also, go back to that beach at night to see the most wonderful stars.

Small but charming and lively resort.
Small but charming and lively resort. Excellent restaurants (particularly fish dishes in 'los Artesanos') and cafes and very easy to book tours through local operators. Crashing rollers and risk of dangerous riptides made swimming somewhat risky, though ideal for surfers. A 40 minute walk along beachside path to north brings you to the magnificent beach of Playa Grande where swimming is a little safer, if not risk-free. A short walk to the south is Montezuma waterfall; it's a must-see although access requires proper footwear and some scrambling/rope work. Swimming in the refreshing pool and launching oneself from the adjacent rocks beneath the falls is highly recommended; not so, climbing up the slippery rocks immediately adjacent to the waterfall as exhibited by some foolhardy locals!

This is a very welcoming place made with a thought for the guests and their comfort! It has everything you need for a top experience, the team was perfect - they take care of all you may need, so you can simply be and enjoy life at the Montezuma beaches! Having the option to cook your own meal, makes it perfect for families with children, but very near-by there are also good restaurants - from 5 stars ones to the simple Sodas - and if you can - dont miss the Soda (Artesanos) nearby, the food there was superb and the prices - surprising in a good way!

It's a very small village, but it has its vibe.
It's a very small village, but it has its vibe. Moreover, there are many things to do around: hiking, surfing, swimming, watching bioluminescence, trip to the Isla de Tortuga is also possible.
There are plenty of beaches around, which are within walking distance.
Despite its size, there are a few very decent restaurants where I would like to go back.
If you are not looking for a crazy party place, it's a fantastic spot for a vacation.
I love Ticozuma. This room was for a friend visiting from the states who wanted air conditioning, which worked very well. The room was cozy and comfortable. Had great wifi, which he used to make calls home. Great forest views from the balcony or the seating area near the stairs, also with wifi. Howler monkeys in the trees right off the balcony. He didn’t use the pool, but it looked great for a dip and a place to catch some sun.
The hotel is family run with friendly helpful staff.
Everything was fantastic! The location, the staff, the restaurant. Everything was great! Also—to people that complained about hot water—the showers were great! There is a box right over the shower that lets you increase the temperature. also—the pool is a short walk away on the beach like 7 minutes. And it is fantastic! I highly recommend this hotel!
The hotel is super nice, the pool is also very good, clean, the garden is awesome! We has a room on the street side, as we only stayed for one night, and it was noisy but that was not the hotel s fault :) The rooms facing the pool and garden are the good ones ! Super central for Montezuma! A good choice for a longer stay, also.
Breakfast was a generous portion and well balanced.
We rented the holiday home which was amazing, but was a little big for 2 people. I totally recommend families to try it out.
The hotel is very close to the busy part of this amazing neighborhood which features many restaurants by the beach and other amenities.
Immediately fell in love with Amor del Mar hotel so we booked 2 more nights!
Its excellent location in Montezuma is close to everything.
The natural low tide pool was amazing
The hosts are very nice and helpful. The breakfast is excellent and the hotel yard and view are all worth it! Can’t wait to come back
Right on the beach. Next or near excellent restaurants. Supermarket next door. Parking on premises. Gates to room closed at night for added security. Hotel rooms are older but very clean. Refrigerator and coffee pot in the room. Sounds of the ocean were amazing and helped block town night life activities.
Aves hotel was a great hotel in all senses! Rooms are impeccable and extremely clean and comfortable. Breakfast was generous and delicious; the staff was wonderful and made us feel at home. Thank you Mike, Johana, Aracely and all the nice people for a stay that we will remember for a long time!
Have stayed at Pura Vida Hostel Montezuma many, many times throughout my travels to Costa Rica. Each time returning to beautiful Montezuma I book myself in to Pura Vida Hostel. Love this hostel. Clean, friendly and with helpful staff members. Thank you guys for being so very welcoming.
Really beautiful stay at Hotel Horizontes de Montezuma. The room was beautiful and comfortable with a great en suite. Particularly loved the salt water swimming pool and the grounds around the hotel were amazing. Breakfast was also very nice and staff were very helpful/friendly.
This was a very kept hotel with a lot of charm. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds and relaxing by the salt water pool, as well as the delicious breakfasts. The hotel has a wonderful atmosphere and staff, and we would love to return.
Aves Hotel lays in the middle of nature, it's perfect if your looking for a calm and relaxed place to stay.
Delicious food is offered for breakfast and lunch and the staff is very friendly and helpful the whole time.
The view on the ocean and the beach. The balcony in front of the room. Located right in the middle of Montezuma. Good accomodation for a group of people traveling together, staying a few days in the area.
The location is only few minutes away from Montezuma center, which is very convenient to avoid the noise of the town. The little swimming pool available to us was just great, refreshing and private.
I liked the owner and the staff a lot. Lots of hammocks and good free breakfast. Everyone was super nice who stayed there and the location is pretty central to everything in Montezuma.
Hotel with a beatiful garden, very nice pool, rooms with spacious patio overlooking the garden. It would be a lovely place … but the negatives spoil it all.
