Traditional food and service. Spotless fresh linen with elegant matching crockery and cutlery. Breakfast freshly cooked. Dinner very traditional and not exactly gourmet standard but very reasonably priced.
The room was in the "new" wing of the hotel. Very large, quiet, comfortable and very well furnished.
The hotel is family run and they really care !

We were only there for one night, but we’re recommended the Globe for a meal, and it didn’t disappoint, on the way we dropped in at the Annan distillery well worth the £25 tour and the driver gets his or her tasting pack to take away with them.

Dumfries is a lovely town ,plenty of park facilities to occupy children . Lots to see and do all around ; mountain biking in the forests ( recommend Ae forest with bike hire and cafe) Lots of local history from gunpowder to Robert Burns . Drumlanrig castle near Thornhill well worth a visit . Beautiful place with a breathtaking view. Very pretty garden. The house is absolutely gorgeous, very spacious, comfortable furniture everything super clean and brand new. Jan and Colin are the nicest people on earth rescuing us from the back of beyond with two flat tires. I want to come again and stay much longer.

We called in to a few pubs and the locals were all very friendly and chatty even to us English ha ha. The town was clean and we had a nice walk across the river along a park then back again. There was plenty of places to have a drink. We only went for the football at Queen of the South and I would go there again given the chance.

I visited with my young grandchildren to attend the Wigtonshire Book Festival which was a great success, as was the accommodation.
However on the Sunday evening, after the Book Festival, There was nowhere suitable available in Dumfries to take three children for an evening meal before travelling home to Stirling. Quite disappointing.

I was only there for 2 days, for a Watercolour workshop, so unfortunately didn’t have much time for sightseeing, but it seems a very historic and interesting town
Ate in the Bistro restaurant at Crichton
The hotel and my room was very nice, clearly recently renovated however the main reason for booking the hotel was the fact it had EV Charge points. On arrival I found the parking bays nicely marked out and the cables ran down the walls but no chargers. Very disappointing and annoying as I had to spend 2 hours in Dumfries this morning charging up my car for the onward journey. I feel the property was mis-sold to me and I will be seeking a refund. someone in your business needs to be updating your information on booking.com.
The location was near the train station and 5 minutes walk from the town centre. A lovely river walk took you into town if you wanted a longer walk along the river into town. Free parking was available at the side of the hotel,
Lovely bedrooms, clean, well equipped with TV, tea and coffee machine etc. with a large ensuite shower room.
Breakfast was excellent in both quality and value and the staff were happy to give information, and recommendations of places to see and visit.
A great flat for a wee visit to Dumfries. It was perfectly clean, and had absolutely everything you could need- including things like oil & spices in the kitchen, which were really handy. Anette was kind and patient awaiting my delayed arrival to hand over the keys. The parking was free and plentiful right outside the flat, and it is located within easy walking distance of the town centre.
We arrived mid evening and were leaving early the next morning. The hotel arranged for us to eat in the restaurant even though it was winding down for the night and delivered a continental breakfast to our room so we could eat early the next morning before setting off. The bedroom was spotless and the beds very comfy. I will definitely stay again if passing through or visiting Dumfries.
We had a wonderful stay here and would highly recommend this hotel. The owners go above and beyond to welcome you and make you feel at home. The rooms are well appointed and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is one of the highlights. We look forward to returning for more than one night next time.
Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Hotel grounds were very nice with outside seating
Appreciated 24 hour reception and air con.
Have had poor breakfasts at Holiday Inns pre-covid and wasn't expecting much but the breakfast buffet was better than expected - similar to a Premier Inn buffet.
Roberstson, our host, is very nice and accommodating. He served us a delicious Scottish breakfast every morning. The rooms were large, very clean and efficiently furnished. The town centre is a 5 minute walk away. We would love to come back. Whenever you are in Dumfries, stay there!
Lovely hotel set in its own grounds just outside of Dumfries. The team were lovely and couldn't do more to make our stay brilliant. Tasty food, decent helpings and great value for money. Rooms recently revamped and very comfortable bed with modern en-suite bathrooms.
We received a warm welcome upon arrival. The room was lovely, spacious, clean and very comfortable. I had the best sleep in the bed to what I have had in a hotel before. I would definitely return to Friars Carse when next in Dumfries.
Comfortable bedroom with kitchen facilities if you need them. Warm welcome from proprietor who made sure we were happy during our stay Lovely peaceful location with beautiful views yet only three miles from centre of Dumfries.
Located in the heart of Dumfries, the host was very organized and access to the room was easy. Our stay was short so we didn’t have time for breakfast, but the room had lovely flowers and we were very comfortable there.
Don't be fooled by this being an older building, it's a clean, comfortable, homely place that's very well run by host Colin. Convenient for Dumfries town centre and around 200m from the railway station. Great breakfast!
Lovely guest house and very friendly staff! Good location, very walkable to anything in and around the Dumfries town center. Breakfast was good. Rooms warm, a nice respite from the frost outside!
