This was our third visit to Zematt. Twice previously we’d come skiing, and it is hard to find better, particularly for long reds. This is our first visit in spring, and although we went in May when many things are shut, there were still plenty to do, and very few crowds.
It is a wonderful place to visit at any time of year, with plenty to do and see, provided you like the outdoors.
Do not miss the (admittedly expensive) train ride to Gornergrat. It is world-class for views.

This is a magical town that you must go to once in your lifetime. Whilst it is generally regarded as a ski town, we thoroughly enjoyed to town and its hospitality when we travelled there in May. It is so pretty; the people are friendly and it is a very unique experience.

First and foremost, all the key highlights within Zermatt, are easily walkable. The trip on the cogwheel train appears to be busy regardless of season so we paid for priority seating. It made a difference! We boarded before the crowds and chose very comfortable seats on the right side of the train. We had investigated places for lunch and dinner prior to going-that really helped! Reservations for dinner are always recommended. Some places are not open on Sunday so be mindful of that.

Zermatt is a cute town that was built for tourism so it caters to all needs. Ample dining options, many activity companies and outfitters etc. It's definitely pricey but anyone going there knows that in advance. It's easily walkable and you are never far from amenities or transportation options. It felt like 4 days was the right amount of time to stay. There are other towns and regions we prefer in Switzerland but Zermatt was pleasant and what we expected.

Amazing place, highly recommend.
Amazing place, highly recommend. We took the cog railway to the Gornergrat and the cable car to the small Matternhorn. Beautiful views.
Classic breakfast - selection: salami, ham, cheeses, pastries, fruit, coffee, tea, cocoa, jams, cornflakes, yogurts, eggs... . Transportation: we mostly walked, it's not a big resort. We went to the start of the cable car in a 6-seater electric taxi. You could also pay by credit card, the taxi driver was very accommodating.

Its mesmerizing and must visit place, especially during snowing time. Entire Zermatt town covered with snow is a must see. Walking around the old cobble stoned streets and the trip to Gornergrat in snowing time is a thrilling experience.
We were here for 3 days and the experience was great. The rooms are very spacious and clean and very well equipped with latest amenities. Make sure to get the very top floor and a balcony room facing Matterhorn, its the best view and the room you can ever have. It is 5-10mins walking distance from the Zermatt station which is very convenient. The service and the breakfast was good as well. Overall it was worth the money and definitely recommended to go for this hotel if its available. I surely will come back here in the future.
Outstanding view of the Matterhorn, terrific spa which was very enjoyable after a day of skiing, with a glass of wine/sparkles, breakfast was very impressive, tasty and lovely room. Brilliant customer service by the staff/ owners.
We called through to reception on our arrival by train to Zermatt and they arranged an electric taxi to pick us up to bring us to 'Hotel Ambiance' as we had a heavy suitcase each and too far to walk with - cheaper than if we organised ourselves.
This hotel is amazing! Our family of five found the suite to be very spacious with a cozy vibe. It’s a quick walk to everything in town, including shopping, restaurants, and the ski lifts, and the amenities are really nice, with a pool, hot tub, and sauna. Free breakfasts are delivered to the suite, which is a luxury. We cannot say enough good things about the staff either. Everyone was very kind and went over and above to make our stay amazing. We definitely recommend it!
this hotel is located in a very unique location, with an amazing matterhorn view... the decoration of the rooms and the restaurants are very nice and mountain style chic. They are mostly concentrated on the 4 restaurants and the bar, with its F&B and the service..., upscale level..., but dont expect the same for the Hotel...., the concierge Mr.Marvin is perfect, he tries his best, even opens the ski room and helps to fix your boots, during 11am and 15 pm
The hotel is absolutely beautiful with an amazing view of the Matterhorn and also in a great location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was so nice and comfortable, you even get a new delicious little treat each day which is a nice touch. The smell, the spa/pool, breakfast, dinners, ambiance and pet friendly made this hotel a must for our family. We will continue to make this hotel a yearly visit for our family trip to zermatt.
this is the best location as it is up the hill away from the town center. it is at one of the bus stops and the bus takes ten minutes to get to the train station or less then that to ski lifts. there is the cutest coffee shop next door. a church, old Zermatt chalets. and although I didn’t eat at it a restaurant downstairs. it’s just super peaceful and beautiful to walk around at night or day. everything was clean and the bed comfortable.
Hotel is located outskirt of Zermatt, still walking distance from the station with a climb at the end. You can take the tramp (which is recommended by the hotel) which stops right at the hotel. View of Matterhorn from our apartment is unbelievable. I don't think you will get such views from the hotels in downtown Zermatt. Place is very clean with amenities including heated pool, spa etc. something rare to find in Switzerland
The breakfast, spa and service was all excellent. The room was a fine size for my two children and me; had a nice bathroom and an appropriate amount of linens. Also, the ski locker in the hotel was outstanding. Very nice to be able to hang your boots, gloves, etc. in an air circulating environment so everything is dry the next day. Overall a great experience and we'll definitely be staying here again when we return to Zermatt.
It is the best hotel experience we had in Switzerland, we have our own view to Matterhorn mountain from the balcony and there is a sauna in basement level which ease our tiredness from hiking around the area.
Also, the hotel breakfast is so rich, wide variety of cheeses, hams and fresh made juicy.
Highly recommended to spend a couple nights here when you in Zermatt
I can't say how much I loved this perfect little hotel. A lot of Zermatt has gone 5 star luxury for the super tacky or ultra hip trying to get the young snowboarders. This is a quiet, authentic, genuine family hotel all done with love. The perfection of absolute simplicity. I adored it and will go back forever.
This hotel was sensational. Very conveniently located, central to everything in town, staff will also pick you up/ drop you off at the station/taxi rank.
Breakfast is included and was the best breakfast with the most international catering, that we’ve had so far in Switzerland.
Would highly recommend.
A very clean room with plenty of space but it has to be said - it’s dated. The room has everything you would need though - fridge, large balcony, great location. Zermatt and indeed Switzerland is pricey - this was one of the cheapest hotels we stayed in.
Wonderful hotel, the best of our trip to Switzerland, satisfactory room size, super complete structure, comfortable, with amenities, heating system, Transfer to the station, sauna, coffee with a lot of options and receptive staff. I highly recommend it!
Cosy alpine- style boutique hotel right on the bus line which will take you into the heart of Zermatt. Very clean and updated - love the heated bathroom floor. Delicious and filling breakfast with kind and friendly staff.
Everything except for the room is a little too small but the view of Matterhorn from the room beats it. The hotel manager is very personal and friendly, the breakfast is one of the best that we had in Switzerland.
Second year in a row staying at Alpina. Clean, comfortable, and great location. Affordable for Zermatt. Breakfast was included, and was the best I had in 2 week Switzerland/Italy trip.
Stay at 3100 Kulm Hotel Gornergrat was like being in the heaven. The best place to visit at Switzerland. Must spend a night to enjoy Sunset and sunrise. It is a lifetime achievement
