FAQs about hotels in Cork

Irish Spirit In A Nutshell

Situated on the banks of the River Lee, Cork’s city centre was originally built on marshes and many of its popular streets are constructed on the former river channels. With a thriving nightlife and a vibrant cultural scene, the Irish Republic’s second biggest city is full of surprises.

Those interested in history should pay a visit to the Cork City Gaol, an old prison transformed into one of the city’s most fascinating attractions, or join the Cork Historic Walking Tours, which offer a great opportunity to learn all the city’s secrets.

For those craving more lively entertainment, the city offers the famous Cork City Pub Crawl or even more exciting, the Barrack Street Challenge, where participants drink pints of beer in all bars along Barrack Street.

The shopping area is concentrated around the most famous street - St. Patrick Street. For local food specialities like crubeens, tripe and drisheen, browse bars and restaurants around MacCurtain, Washington and Oliver Plunkett Streets.

When flying to Cork Airport, you’re just a short taxi or bus ride from the lively city centre. Don’t worry about accommodation; Booking.com has plenty on offer, from convenient hotels, to cosy guest houses and bed & breakfasts.

Lots of hustle and bustle, there were a good amount of street entertainers/ buskers. A good selection of shops. The energy was great overall. I noticed a lot more homeless people than the last time I was there. A strong smell of pee from some of the streets.

We stayed in Cork because it was central to other things we wanted to see. That was a mistake. Cork is just a big city. Not overly pretty, not much to do. The English Market is very active and interesting. There are many restaurants and bars. We accidentally booked an apt on a busy street, and it was noisy all night. I wouldn't recommend anybody visit Cork.

The city is very clean and tidy.

The city is very clean and tidy. A visit to the stunning University College of Cork and the lovely Fitzgerald Park can take about half a day each as they are both so amazing. There is a public museum and cafe in Fitzgerald Park. There are many lovely views of the River Lee both in the city centre and around. There are lots of green spaces and the people were friendly. I only went for 3 days on a business trip but would have liked to have spent much more time there to see the other sights of interest such as the Blarney Castle, Cork Goal and Cobh - where the lovely coloured painted houses are. Two weeks in Cork would be ideal for me.

Great genealogy and family history day was held at the Cork County Archives. Very friendly staff and excellent speakers. I did not know this was an annual event that they held there and I would recommend it to anyone interested in genealogy. It was well attended and I understand it will be repeated next Thursday 18th April such was the demand for seats. I hope to return to the archives for research and to attend their annual family history day.

    The city was great.

The city was great. Lots of shops and places to visit nearby. There are many hills so bear in mind if your about travelling. The Old City Goal is up a huge hill so Taxi there and walk back (downhill) Taxis are cheap enough to use but some of them are cheeky with the prices. The weather was good for our stay but remember to take an umbrella as it often rains unexpectedly.

All staff lovely and friendly. Food was excellent both at dinner and breakfast. Beds were very comfy. Room was clean and bright and welcoming. Hotel had arranged the bottle of Processo as ordered. We watched the Euro final on a fab huge screen in the bar in a very well organised social distanced seating area. Had a lovely few Gin & Tonic's. Great outdoor seating area for food and drinks. Lovely location, 5 minutes drive from Cork City. Nice building.

The hotel had been ideal for us as the bus stop was literally outside the hotel and we went to Cork to see Route 94 in Cypress Avenue and the hotel was only a 5 minute walk from the venue and 10 minutes from other restaurants and places we went to. We stayed in room 215 and it was kept really clean and it was really comfortable and looking out the window at Cork City was a sight in itself.

This hotel was an ABSOLUTE DUMP FILTHY DIRTY AND RUN DOWN --- Its like something from 1985 The Glossy Photos on Booking.com do not do its justice and its very misleading i wasnt expecting much from this hotel but we did pay €220 for 1 night - This hotel is a great example of RIP off Ireland - Absolute disgrace how this even passes health and safety regulations

The public areas were lovely and modern, staff were very attentive and friendly. Location was a great bonus too, less than 10min walk into the city centre. Room was clean and housekeeping changed our towels and bedsheets for our 2nd night when we hung up the sign. We had lunch in the hotel and that was nice too.
