Loved the surrounding area (with the alpacas). The room & bed were both super comfortable to stay in. Really enjoyed all the little touches in the decor and the services provided (cake in the afternoon, breakfast was amazing, great recommendations of nearby restaurant, the mini bar had tons of options). Staff very friendly and welcoming. Very close to the deepest lake in England - would definitely come back and stay here!

Holmrook is a quiet village with few amenities, but it is a well placed base for travelling a little further afield. The nearby beaches at Drigg and Seascale are rather good and Ravenglass is worth a visit as is Muncaster Castle. The nearby narrow gauge railway can take you into Dalegarth near Boot in the Lakes within view of the Hardknott pass and a short walk from Stanley Ghyll Waterfall. A little further to the north Wast Water and Scafell Pike are not so far away.

Beautify countryside.
Beautify countryside. Interesting places to visit eg Muncaster Castle, Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, Hardcastle Roman Fort, Eskdale Watermill. Less good is the number of narrow, twisting and steep roads, but that is to be expected in an area such as this.

Holmrook on the western side of the Lake District is a good starting point for exploring the lakes and mountains. Not much going on in Holmrook. I would recommend Bridge Inn about 3 miles out of of Holmrook but suggest you book a table as it soon fills up.
We loved the wet room and the provision of white fluffy towels was an unexpected bonus. The extra wide bed made for a restful night's sleep for both of us! The conversion of an old farm building was beautifully done and the skylight made the open plan living/kitchen /dining space feel lighter and more spacious. We used the information supplied by the hosts to book a meal out at the local hotel and a trip on the steam train from Ravenglass - both a great success!
Everything went well. MY wife and I travelled to one of our favorite Hotels to celebrate our Silver wedding anniversary. When the shower leaked in our room, Peter moved us to a larger room without any fuss at all. The refurbishment is excellent, the food is superb and the Hotels loves dogs, so Loki was very happy! The Bridge is a very cosy, comfortable Hotel and Sam behind the bar was very professional.
Great pub and food - great location to stay for Sca Fell Pike - bar staff pleasant and friendly, lady for first morning breakfast very pleasant, different lady for breakfast second morning was extremely rude and unpleasant. Breakfast was excellent -cost for single room great value.
recommend this hotel but not the single rooms.
Everything was good except that our bedroom was very hot. This wasn't the hotel's fault but it did detract from the comfort of our stay. The best aspect was the service at dinner and breakfast. The food was very good.
Enjoyed my time in holmrook, the daleview was exceptional value for money and the host was friendly and helpful, we were given a lot of useful information about the local area and amenities, would definitely go again
The hot tub was amazing, the farmhouse had everything you need for your stay.
The host were very friendly and helpful.
Within a 15-20 minute walk was The Victoria Hotel is a gem the homemade food was lovely.
Superb breakfast, with the absolute best Cumberland sausage made with Cumbrian pork, from the nearby 5- generation butcher, eggs freshly laid by Jo's hens, and delicious British tomatoes.
