Nicosia's old town is fascinating and safe to walk around day and night.
Nicosia also has an excellent cheap bus service.
Locals are friendly and helpful if you need directions. Many Cypriots speak English.
And of course the Greek Cypriot food is delicious and reasonably priced.

Besides, almost always great weather, very nice people, and delicious food, 1 - to 2 days in Nicosia is enough to walk around and check out the sightseeing. I recommend passing through the border to the Turkish side and shopping a bit in the Turkish Bazar (the ladies will like POSH Handbags & Shoes shop) and eating at the local restaurants. Have a Turkish coffee.

Nicosia is a very unique and historic City.
Nicosia is a very unique and historic City. Famously it is still a divided city and it is possible to visit Northern Nicosia which is under Turkish Occupation since the 1970s.
There are many very interesting and fairly unique sites to visit on both sides of the border.
Nicosia is both a very modern city and has also a very old and picturesque sector. The fact that it has a patrolled border, the Green Line, running through it makes it a very memorable experience.
There are many restaurants and tavernas of variable quality in the town. Sadly there are way too many fast food outlets, but there are also some traditional tavernas serving fresh local delicacies.
However my main criticism would be, as a vegan, I found it very difficult to find places that catered for me.

The southern city center is very small--you can easily walk from end to end multiple times in a day of sightseeing--but it is a pleasant mix of developed tourist streets, colorful quaint residential streets, abandoned buildings and weird more or less closed shops with display windows full of junk. The center is worth a day. A second day is best spent on the Turkish side or in nature at the city outskirts.

I loved and always visit Nicosia both myself and my wife visited 2 or 3 times per year I love the weather and the kind people , lots of attraction and lots of restaurants with fine food , fantastic place especially in December time , Nicola is easy to move around
Very nice hostel, very clean, helpful and honest staff, they clean every day, and change sheets. I stayed 2 weeks there, and the owner offered me one free laundry load as a bonus, that I appreciated. They have a big sunny terrasse, beautifully painted, and free tea and coffee throughout the day. It is within walking distance (10min) to the museum, (20min) downtown, the border with Turkish side of Cyprus, and the main bus station that connects you with main cities. I totally recommend.
The staff members were extremely nice, friendly and helpful. The hotel is in the center of the old town. Still our room on the 3rd floor was very quiet. Everything was very clean. I appreciated the pure oats at the breakfast buffet (In most hotels they just offer highly sugared and proceeded cereal versions). We got more than expected for a 2 star hotel.
Location--it was an easy 3- block walk to the Old Town, a 4 - block walk to the Cyprus Museum. I parked my car and never used it during my 4 day stay; I was able to walk everywhere.
Apartment had lots of room(s) and kitchen was fully equipped for cooking and snacking. AND there was a washing machine in the apartment along with iron and ironing board.
Big room, some basic food available 24/7 for free, nice staff, very clean, big confortable bed. Many shops and restaurants near. It takes about 20 minutes to walk downtown.
We were allowed lo leave our rental car on the hotel parking lot free od charge for three days following our two nights' stay here while we were visiting the North Cyprus.
Best experience I've ever had when choosing a place to stay in Nicosia. Super clean! Shower was wonderful and the bed was very comfortable. The air conditioning worked excellent. The kitchen had everything you need to cook. The staff even let us use the washer and dryer. I felt safe because it's a locked facility. I highly recommend.
The rooms are bright, clean and very nicely decorated. The hotel is small and cute. The staff is very kind and helpful. There is a cute bar at the top floor, where we had excellent breakfast.
The area is good, not very central and a car is definitely needed, but then that’s the case for every place in Cyprus!
Definitely coming back!
Central location near the "border crossing" through the old town check point. Room had space enough. Tho the hotel has seen it's best days, it's good value for the money and has a certain oldish atmosphere. Staff was helpful and they even borrowed an umbrella as it was pouring outside.
The bedroom was on the small size but perfectly OK for a short stay, the hotel was very clean and the breakfast food and service was good. Location was excellent close to the bus station and main shopping area and crossing points to North Cyprus
The Hotel was excellent, exactly what we needed. It was only a very short stay but as we travel to Cyprus on a regular basis for work and are here sometimes for a week at a time.
In the city centre, very nice hotel.Very friendly staff!Clean room, comfy bed and very good breakfast.Discover the area with the old , beautiful things, like a small museum!
