Booked the hotel almost by accident but it was a great experience. Good room, good menu, bar and all the staff were great. Don't be put off thinking it's only an equestrian hotel, it's top notch at everything but with the added bonus of a genuine Icelandic pony stable as well
The Greenhouse hotel has 7 restaurants and a bar in its food hall, Icelandic designer stores, Icecream and a local food market.

The overall vibe and concept is superb, a surprisingly hip hotel in Iceland. Staff was friendly and very helpful. I loved the design and features of our room. It was clean, spacious and very cozy and comfortable. Location is fairly convenient, with parking just outside and a supermarket nearby. The food hall and shop on the ground floor were great too. There was a lot of varieties and they were delicious!

The location as it is located inside an industrial estate with shops and restaurants to eat in or takeaway food There is a bakery, a pharmacy and a vin buden (wine shop) all within walking distance of the hotel. There are petrol stations in the industrial area too. The town of selfoss is only a short 10 minute drive away from the hotel. Selfoss has a subway, dominos, and a kfc if you feel like fast food.
The pool is heated to a nice temperature for the summer months.

It was a nice place and we enjoyed a lot the spa and the sauna. It was a nice way to end our vacation in Iceland. The food was okay, but nothing special.

Sigga was such a nice, kind, helpful and overally great hostest and she makes terrific breakfast. Her home is beutiful and so cozy. We had a really nice stay and we prommised to come back to Iceland again. And when we do that, we will stay with Sigga again, because it's definitely worth it.

Really spacious apartment with a well-equipped kitchen. It made for a very comfortable stay.
Location was also really nice, only a short drive from Selfoss. There is a Bonus nearby for groceries. If you want something different to eat, just downstairs is a restaurant and down the street is The Greenhouse.
Communication with the hosts was very responsive.
Hveragerdi is like the story of Goldilocks - not too far...
Hveragerdi is like the story of Goldilocks - not too far away from the major cities and airport in KEF / Reykjavik. Not too remote nor too busy. Plenty of dining options and bars and yet not crowded. Not too quiet nor too bright with city lights. Almost the perfect spot if you want to explore anything in Thingvellir National Park. And, close enough to some easily accessible spots if you are hunting for the elusive Northern Lights.
Reasons to stay at Hveragerdi: 1) You just landed in Iceland and don't want to drive too far fighting jet lag. (2) You want to have a base for exploring Thingvellir / Golden Circle (3) You want to step away from the busy Reykjavik and also have options for restaurants, bars and bakeries (4) You want to stay at a spot not too far from KEF airport to catch a flight the next day
Reasons not to stay at Hvergerdi: (1) Your main points of interest are farther south and southeast Iceland (Vik / Jokulsarlon / Hofn) or farther west and north Iceland (Snaefellsness / Western fjords / Akureyri)

A great base to explore South West Iceland, the Golden Circle, and other sights. The little town is easily walkable. We ate at Matkráin which was recommended in the information pack at our accommodation and were not disappointed by the Danish smørrebrød. We also tried The Greenhouse which had a really good atmosphere and is set up as a food hall.

The location is good at the beginning of South Iceland.
The location is good at the beginning of South Iceland. Everything we wanted to see was within 1h 40min drive. Still the small town has a big shop and the basic services that smaller places further out don't have (except Selfoss)

This location was truly magical.
This location was truly magical. It was quiet but close enough to amenities. The walks around our hotel were beautiful, including the walk to the village. Nearby you can do the mega zipwire and the hike to the hot river. We really enjoyed both of these activities. The town of Selfoss is busier and has some great restaurants, it's around 10 minute drive. We also visited the Lava Tunnel which is about 15 minutes away. However, this was pricey for what it was. Be prepared to spend quite a bit of money as Iceland is expensive.

Great place to visit.
Great place to visit. Excellent hike to hot springs and geo thermal river for bathing - wasn't spoilt by being busy.
Are out one night at the pizza and brewery in town which was reasonably priced, delicious pizza and lively atmosphere.
Cookies, coffee, and tea right upon entry, the staff was kind and rooms spacious and comfortable. Adjacent to the horse stables and riding facility, this was a perfect location to get in some Icelandic horseback riding, hiking to the Reyjadalur Thermal Hot Springs, and dining at the Ingolfsskali Viking Restaurant before heading back towards Keflavik airport the next morning. I particularly loved how our room had views of the horses in the field and was so near the hot tub. Beds are with Hastens mattresses.
We travelled as a family to Hvergeroi at the end of a ring road trip, and the hotel was our favorite of the eight nights we stayed in hotels. We stayed in the family room, which was perfect for our children (they provided bunk beds), and it was incredibly convenient to be above a food hall and so close to the grocery store and bakeries. The hotel rooms themselves were clean and lovely, and we really enjoyed walking around the town.
The hotel is very easy to find, on the main street in Hveragerdi. We stayed here on our last night in Iceland, on our way back to the airport. The main reason was the proximity of the Reykjadalur Hot Springs River. We were even lucky to see the northern lights just outside the hotel. Really liked the food court downstairs with their take-away stands. Food was very good.
This hotel is really wonderful. The facilities are amazing and the location couldn’t be better. Loved the hot tub and the sauna. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Really nice they provided robes and slippers for use of the hot tub and sauna. The rooms are nice size and very cozy. Delicious breakfast. Really awesome spot to see the northern lights.
Lovely hotel, convenient to many attractions and within an hour or less of Reykjavik. Best value for my dollar of any hotels we stayed in while in Iceland. Very reasonable pricing and offer great accommodation along with an exceptional breakfast. However, like most European beds, I did find it hard, but again, that is the norm for Iceland.
The swimming pool is nice and warm (not new but it’s nice to have a pool in the hotel). There are small attractions such as ping pong and pool table. Breakfast was nice and also dinner (however very overpriced). Great location. There is a park 2 minutes from the hotel which is recommended for a morning walk.
Our favourite accommodation during our stay in Iceland (and we stayed in 9 different places!). Very comfortable, excellent facilities, and exceptionally decorated - it's very telling that the owner is an interior designer. Well placed for the Golden Triangle and Hveragerði is well served for eateries etc.
We loved this hotel, it was in a great location and it had friendly touches in the room like a free voucher for the local pool and money off at local restaurants. The food hall was great and had good options to eat. The shop within the hotel was also lovely. The room was spacious clean and well decorated.
The steam bath! That's a once in a lifetime experience. The water is literally boiling under your feet.
The northern lights were visible the night we stayed at the hotel, but it's better to drive out of the town to see the lights stronger.
Clean rooms, great facilities and really comfortable beds. The people working there were lovely - polite ans helpful. Hot tubs stay open until 11pm which is perfect. Breakfast was also lovely especially the waffle maker was a nice touch!
Wonderful lady that runs the place. She meet us at the door, checked us in and talked to us for a while about the best times to see the northern lights. Wonderful small cottage without the big hotel experience.
Clean and nice place in Hveragerdi near Reykjadalur Hot Springs. We didn't see anyone from the staff but everything worked out well. Parking by the entrance, keys and door code as instructed.
Clean and comfortable. Good breakfast at the Eldhestar Hotel close by. Perfect place to stay when we were going on a riding tour 9 am. The stable and horses were just out the front door.
Although we are not “ horsey “ people, we enjoyed the good vibes of all the enthusiastic riders in the hotel. The decor on the theme of horses was also very pleasant.
