Really nice place with a very friendly host! Fortunatelly the house not exactly in the centre, so it's quiet. Comfortable beds and a very good brekfast.

We initially booked for one night, but once there decided to book a 2nd night. Unfortunately the lodge we were in was not available for the 2nd night, however, we were given the option of another lodge. Both lodges were fantastic and had everything you needed in them and also both very comfortable. Staff (Jason & also the cleaner) were 10/10, great customer service.

From the minute we arrived the level of service was shocking...
From the minute we arrived the level of service was shocking, admittedly we arrived 2 hrs early but after a 6 hr drive, I thought it would be worth asking if room was ready, nobody on reception, just a mobile number to call & phone was answered with a “Yeah “ check in is 3pm and if you want to check in now it’s £25 per hr. I thought this was steep after paying £900 for 3 nights. The lodge was ok but worth nowhere near that amount. We went and sat in the pub over the road and waited until 3pm, on check in they asked me to pay £200 security which is for the hot tub. On the 1st night, my 8 yr old daughter was sick and we had to remove her bed sheets, I went to reception the following day a couple of times to report this but there was nobody there, I called the mobile number but no answer & my daughter had to spend 2 x nights without sheets . After we checked out, just a key drop as again there was nobody on reception, I took a call a few hrs later telling me that as I had failed to inform them about my daughter being sick on the sheets, I wouldn’t get my £200 deposit back, I sent a screen shot of times I tried to call & explained that I visited reception to report. I even offered to meet them in the middle but the woman was aggressive & just kept blaming her boss, she wouldn’t send me her bosses details and has kept the money.
Absolutely shocking service & I doubt the boss had anything to do with it.
I have never, ever left a review as I think everyone deserves an off day every now and then, but due to such poor service & poor attitude I need to warn others.
Money not so much an issue, just the manner in which it was taken.

Balmaha is a spectacular location on the banks of Loch Lomond. Beautiful walks along the shoreline or up through the woodlands and climbing Conic hill.

The Oak Tree Inn had everything you would need for a base...
The Oak Tree Inn had everything you would need for a base for exploring. There was no where near by, within walking distance to eat or drink. The Oak Tree has everything you would need, coffee shop with home roasted coffee, great selection of snacks and cakes with plenty of vegan options. They have a shop with gifts, drinks, sandwiches, snacks and walking equipment. The pub itself it very quaint with open fire, a well stocked bar and good pub food. The pricing of the food was around £15 for a meal however, the deserts were expensive at £8.95. There is great walks around and you can climb Conig Hill which is directly opposite the accommodation. The water taxis weren’t running due to the weather so we drove around to Luss which was beautiful. It’s a great place to stay altogether.

Balmaha was a perfect location for walking, hiking, driving and seeing delightful views of the Lochs and sweeping hills - West Highland Way across the road, as well as the beautiful Conic Hill which provided the most wonderful view of Loch Lomand and surrounds.
The town is very small, but has a few lovely restaurants, an excellent coffee shop, and a little store which had everything you needed for your stay.
Definitely recommend hiring a car as there are some lovely villages and walking trails nearby, as well as stunning driving views alongside the Lochs,

A quieter place which gives the opportunity to relax or walk...
A quieter place which gives the opportunity to relax or walk around the local area. Best to avoid the high tourist season as it can become a bottleneck. Limited local eateries, but our accommodation, Birchwood Guest Lodge offers a fabulous self catering full kitchen and dining area.
Staff were all very friendly, from reception right through to the caretaker. I had expected to get a room over a pub but these were individual en-suite bedrooms in small cottages just along from the Inn. The room was spotlessly clean, quiet, bed very comfortable, views over Loch Lomond. The food was excellent, both breakfast and evening meal, and the breakfasts were pretty hearty, with good Loch Lomond blend coffee. I think it was rated as a 3 star hotel, I would have rated it far higher, and I would come back.
We arrived to a warm welcome after soaking wet after 4 hours walking through rain on the West Highland Way. We loved the ingenious design of the room with drying rack, fold out beds and tables. The room had everything a tired walker could need including tea, coffee and a hairdryer, and a good wifi connection. It was a short walk into Balmaha village with pub (and dinner), coffee shop, and shop. The room was very clean and the beds very comfortable. Also great covid precautions. Very good value for money.
Lovely property with everything you could need. Pleasant stay and nothing was too much trouble, hosts happy to answer any questions! Short walk from Drymen and Balmaha. Recommend The Oak Tree Inn where we had a lovely meal. Special shout out to the Property Manager, Michelle, who went out of her way to post something back to us when we left it behind! Again, nothing was too much trouble for her or her husband who came out to fix a couple of the radiators 😊 Would definitely stay again.
Amazing accommodation, the staff were very friendly and helpful, also super generous, the lodge we stayed in was the woodpecker cabin, it was comfortable, cosy and the hot tub was fantastic!! This cabin also accommodates dogs the space outside is perfect and private. Would 100% stay here again and would highly recommend a stay to anyone looking for great accommodation in the loch lomond area. Balmaha specifically.
Charming cottage on the shore of Loch Lomond. Felt very secluded and private, perfect for a quiet getaway. The garden has plenty of seating for you to take in the views.
Couldn’t really have asked for more, it was cosy, comfortable and exactly what we were hoping for. I’d definitely stay again.
Access to the beach was just a short walk from the property, and connected to a woodland/Loch side path to Balmaha.
We stayed at the lodge for 2 nights and absolutely loved the place. The lodge was spacious, spotlessly clean, well equipped and very cozy. The lodge is located in the heart of Balmaha within walking distance of the Oak Tree Inn, local shop, cafe and boat jetty. The lodge had its own hot tub which was amazing. Definitely recommend this place for a short or long stay on Loch Lomond.
The location, next to Loch Lomond, is simply amazing. The view from the hotel was beautiful, the room was clean, with every comfort and super clean. The Inn is part of a small complex that has a cafe (where we had a good breakfast), a store (useful for buying supplies if you are walking the West highland way) and a restaurant. Definitely a place we would like to visit again.
It was in the perfect location after our 1st leg of West Highland way. After s meal at the local pub it was an 8min walk up the rd. The host showed us to the room and set our beds up for us. The rooms are cozy and clean with usual drinks facilities. Great en suite. The beds were comfortable and there was great WiFi.
Ide thoroughly recommend for a stay in Balmaha.
loved the location of the property within walking distance of Balmaha, big open green space & being able to see Loch Lomond in the distance from the hot Tub was lovely, Very peaceful, great cafe with amazing food on site. The property had 3 Toilets & showers & 2 baths, which was great with a larger party of people, very comfortable beds.
Staying in a pod was a nice little experience. It has everything you need.
Parking right outside the pod
The location is perfect for experiencing Balmaha with lots to do within walking distance (in terms of exploring the area)
The restaurant has good food with a nice atmosphere.
.Thorsten was a wonderful host. Helpful, informative, great conversationalist and made me feel very welcomed. Put me in the right direction to enjoy a stunningly beautiful slice of heaven; also known as Scotland. The decor was very unique and comfortable.
The BnB is really nice! The view when you exist is really beautiful, the beds are very confortable.
We enjoyed our stay in Balmaha a lot!
The place is about 10-15min walk from the bus station.
The hosts is so so nice! And the breakfast to die for!
Amazing appartement!
Very spacious, clean, comfy, cosy (nicely decorated), peaceful, view on the water, walking distance of pub/WHW/shop (Balmaha is not big), smooth check-in by friendly staff,... we loved it very much and wish could stayed longer.
A charming hotel in an excellent location in Loch Lemond, close to the nature reserve and the ferry that goes to the other side of the lake. The rooms are spacious and very suitable for families, and the breakfast in the hotel restaurant is great.
Everything was amazing. Staff, reception, food quality, room, breakfast, parking, views of Loch Lomond and surrounding hills, all amazing. Balmaha and The Oak Tree Inn is a must see and do place to visit.
Great location, fruendly staff anf good arrangement with the hotel, and coffee shop next door which we used for breakfast rather than the hotel.
Excellent icecream too!
