Hotel Cheminee, hotel in Zermatt

Located directly opposite the Sunegga Mountain Cable Car, this 3-star hotel in Zermatt offers traditional grilled food, free Wi-Fi, and a garden terrace. Zermatt Train Station is a 5-minute walk away....

The hotel is conveniently located near both the train and bus stations, which is perfect for first-time travelers to Zermatt, especially considering the hilly terrain. I was pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of my room and the stunning Matterhorn view it offered. The option for daily cleaning provided by the hotel was a nice touch. I decided to go for the breakfast option for one day, and it was very reasonably priced compared to the rest of Zermatt's dining scene. The staff, who I believe are family members, were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. Thank you for a wonderful welcome.

FAQs about hotels in Zermatt

Cosy Gem At the Foot of Matterhorn

A beautiful car-free village in the Swiss Alps, Zermatt is world-famous for its skiing and mountaineering qualities. Standing in the shadow of the impressive Matterhorn, this is a true Alpine paradise, popular with both celebrities and citizens of all nationalities.

Surrounded by stunning mountains and plenty of hiking trails, Zermatt offers more than just pretty views. The nearby Sunnegga Paradise ski area needs to be accessed by 3 successive means of transport: a funicular railway, a gondola and a cable car, making it a great ride with an even better finish! And in Zermatt, there is still even more!

This lovely village is a great base for hiking on the nearby Breithorn, the easiest trek of the entire Alps, rewarding the effort with a great panorama of the snow-covered mountain tops and charming villages below.

Try mountain biking in the Zermatt area and after a very active day relax in one of the cosy restaurants and bars with an open fire and comfortable armchairs. Or just have a stroll down the main street and enjoy the view of the wooden chalets and do some window shopping.

Get there by train and choose one of over 230 accommodation options available on Booking.com: from cosy apartments to inviting hotels.

Zermatt is a beautiful small car free village.

Zermatt is a beautiful small car free village. There are only electric vehicles running in Zermatt. Electric taxi's are easily available from the train station and they also provide their contact number for easily calling them back for a trip from your apartment back to the train station. There is one main shopping street with many small and big stores and the operating times of each store can vary. Usually all stores were operating from 10am to 12.30 pm and then again from 2pm to 6pm on most days. There are many restaurants in the shopping street with the Gelato Italian being our favourite Ice cream shop. The whole city is very picturesque and easy to walk around. There are many exciting places to visit in Zermatt like the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise mountain, the Gornergrat mountain, the Matterhorn Museum and there are many luxury spa resorts out there. We definitely recommend visiting Zermatt at least for 2 full days.

This was our third visit to Zematt.

This was our third visit to Zematt. Twice previously we’d come skiing, and it is hard to find better, particularly for long reds. This is our first visit in spring, and although we went in May when many things are shut, there were still plenty to do, and very few crowds. It is a wonderful place to visit at any time of year, with plenty to do and see, provided you like the outdoors. Do not miss the (admittedly expensive) train ride to Gornergrat. It is world-class for views.

This is a magical town that you must go to once in your lifetime. Whilst it is generally regarded as a ski town, we thoroughly enjoyed to town and its hospitality when we travelled there in May. It is so pretty; the people are friendly and it is a very unique experience.

First and foremost, all the key highlights within Zermatt, are easily walkable. The trip on the cogwheel train appears to be busy regardless of season so we paid for priority seating. It made a difference! We boarded before the crowds and chose very comfortable seats on the right side of the train. We had investigated places for lunch and dinner prior to going-that really helped! Reservations for dinner are always recommended. Some places are not open on Sunday so be mindful of that.

Zermatt is a cute town that was built for tourism so it caters to all needs. Ample dining options, many activity companies and outfitters etc. It's definitely pricey but anyone going there knows that in advance. It's easily walkable and you are never far from amenities or transportation options. It felt like 4 days was the right amount of time to stay. There are other towns and regions we prefer in Switzerland but Zermatt was pleasant and what we expected.

    Amazing place, highly recommend.

Amazing place, highly recommend. We took the cog railway to the Gornergrat and the cable car to the small Matternhorn. Beautiful views. Classic breakfast - selection: salami, ham, cheeses, pastries, fruit, coffee, tea, cocoa, jams, cornflakes, yogurts, eggs... . Transportation: we mostly walked, it's not a big resort. We went to the start of the cable car in a 6-seater electric taxi. You could also pay by credit card, the taxi driver was very accommodating.

Our family stayed at the panoramic Matterhorn view 4 twin bedroom, and we definitely got that panoramic view. The bedroom was nice with two beds on the base and two in the loft above. The best thing I loved about this hotel was the swimming pool, outside jacuzzi, and the sauna rooms. Definitely make sure to bring your swimsuit to experience all those free amenities that come as a package. Our family also booked a reservation to eat at the hotel restaurant, Restaurant Matterhorn. Our server was very friendly and the food was very good.

We stayed at the Hotel Albana Real for 1 week over New Year. We had a really wonderful time. The staff are super friendly and really made our trip special. The spa facilities are lovely and a great way to relax after a hard days skiing. We would definitely recommend visiting the restaurants in the hotel : the Japanese is amazing for both Teppanyaki (which is really special) or the sushi bar. The Japanese is probably the best restaurant in Zermatt. 5 stars. Thank you so much Hotel Albana

Very good hotel's location, just few steps form the ski lift + from the bus stop which takes to yet another ski lift. The location was excellent and the price was reasonable. Zermatt is super expensive, so it was great to find a hotel that did not take all my money. But the location is the best - easy walking distance to train station, mountain train station, and ski shops. And, the building is on a secluded side street so there is little noise from the main street. They also had a nice ski locker.

The hotel itself is fun and centrally located,… the ski room for equipment is great as well (eg., boot heaters!) The best part is the staff - they were incredible. We left a daypack in the train, and (weeks after we’d returned home it was recovered). Nikolas went to the SBB lost and found, picked it up and shipped it to us. Incredible kindness and service!
