A beautifully clean Black Forest Town, built around a large central square. Plenty of restaurants and bars, and shops (though quite expensive!), and a wonderful central area of grass, water fountains (for children to play in), and a 'sand and slide' kids play area too.

Freudenstadt is a good base for exploring the river valleys in northern Black Forest. Nowhere is too far, for example Baden Baden about 45 mins away. City feels like a safe place, the central square, said to be biggest in Germany, has a number of restaurants and a small brewery, Very pleasant place to end the day. There are all the usual supermarkets: REWE, Lidl, Aldi. Plenty of service stations. Huge parking under town square. A beautiful quiet town. Picturesque square with fountains and beautiful flower arrangements this time of year (end August). Try the Brauhaus in the main square. Great beer, great food, highly recommended.

We stayed one night on our way to Italy and arrived late (18:00), which might have been a bit too short to see the town. There were alot of restaurants to eat at, and the area around the village is very nice. If you like to have a nice drive with a couple of stops with a great view you should try the B500 road.

The lodge is in the center, but still a peaceful location. The owner Sarah is very helpful and friendly, ready to share good tips about the activities in the area. The room on top the floor was clean and cosy. We had a very good sleep. Almost no mobile coverage available in the village, but the Wifi in the lodge was fast and stable to write emails etc. We recommend this place and hope to return someday again.LLigaGermany

The hostess is super friendly and let us know beforehand that the breakfast wouldn’t be as elaborate as normal but it was more than enough for us. We brought our dog and in the room a feeding bowl and drink bowl were already placed. The room was spacious with a little terras. You could use the kitchen facilities if you didn’t want to go out and eat at a restaurant.AnoniemBelgium

Anyone who enjoys riding twisting mountain roads on a motorcycle knows this location is going to be a winner, Black Forest, B500, say no more. :-) The property is clean, comfortable, and serves a good breakfast. The staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is above a popular and busy Greek restaurant. We had the best evening meal of our weeks holiday there..

The property is on the edge of the Black Forest and gorgeous. Breakfast buffet had all we could ask for and was constantly replenished as guests ate. Easy walk to town, which exceeded our expectations! Wish we could have stayed several days.

The owner was very welcoming and helpful. We didnt eat here but it is very popular so must be good. We appreciated our own space after 2 weeks travelling around Germany and eating out.
