The best inn I have ever stayed inn! It's a 1500s building and it is gorgeous and fascinating inside. So much to look at, lovingly and tastefully restored and preserved. See pics. Fantastic staff. I didn't use the pub / restaurant but it looked superb. I did have breakfast which was 10 out of 10, see pic. The location is in the heart of the historic old town, all the streets are narrow and quaint, I managed to find parking up the street, but the whole area wasn't designed for motor cars. Be aware that the many steep stairs are not suitable if you have mobility issues or heavy suitcases, so if that's you call them to discuss your options. See the pic of the paper they gave me to help me navigate the labyrinth! Overall the best historic property I have ever stayed in, and I have travelled a lot. Don't miss staying here!

The Compasses is one of the best pubs in the world, and it's worth staying over just to spend an evening there. Pub aside, the rooms are very well-appointed and comfortable, and reasonable value.

In the small village of Sheering, this family run Public House offers 12 en-suite bedrooms. The Cock Inn is a family run free house that has been run by the Bedford family for over 20 years. Exceptional accommodation, lovely quaint inn - dinner and breakfast was outstanding. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend for a comfortable stay.

I LOVE THIS HOTEL, SPECIALLY NOW THAT HAS BEEN RENOVATED AND REFURBISHED- IT LOOKS LOVELY AND MY BEDROOM 401 WAS EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE AND LARGE.

Excellent accommodation close to Stanstead Airport with wonderful pub restaurant and great staff. Lovely to have air conditioning in bed room!

Boasting a terrace, restaurant, bar and free WiFi, Kings Arms Hotel is set in Stansted Mountfitchet, 200 metres from Stansted Mountfitchet Station and 14 km from Audley End House. We stay at a lot of B&Bs- this one was exceptional. The rooms were modern, clean and spacious. The food was excellent and we even caught the place on quiz night and were invited to join. We had a blast. The Landlady is exceptionally kind and dog friendly. We would 100% stay again.

What a fantastic place, decor , facilities , food all to a very high standard. Lost of history dating back to 1500s. Floor tilting which all adds to the character. Shower room excellent to a very high standard. Food in the restaurant was amazing can’t wait to visit again. Great menu. Room very quiet, overlooking the church gardens.
