We stayed at Gulf View Resort. Jen, at the front desk, made us feel very welcomed and went out of her way to help us find gluten-free restaurants on the Keys. The room(s) were extremely clean and we loved the location and the spectacular views right outside our bedroom windows. We had an outside patio which was a great place to watch the sunset. The pictures we saw on line are true to what we actually had. What we saw is what we got!

Marathon is a great stop before going to key west or if you want to fish or do activities. KW isn't a great destination for that. Marathon is much quieter but also closes early.
I'd much rather stay in Marathon for a longer part and do an overnight in KW.

Went to Bahia Honda State Park - beaches were ok.
Went to Bahia Honda State Park - beaches were ok. They offer paddle boarding and kayak rental there. went on several trails, which were nice. Went on the old 7 mile bridge (cloudy day), but didn't get to see sunrise. Drove out to see mini deers and got to see a glimpse of one (it was not near sunset or sunrise, which is the time they recommend you go to see them).

The place was definitely NOT a resort.
The place was definitely NOT a resort. Very run down, pool was nasty and cloudy and the place doesn’t look nor feel clean. Tons of construction during the week and rather terrible if I wanted to sit outside and enjoy that “water view “ which was, not much of a Waterview. It’s a canal in between two concrete walls. Paid too much for such a not so great motel at best!
It was crazy good!! My wife and I are coffee fanatics and they had keurig coffee maker in the room.. So I went down to get stronger coffee pods mentioning that I brought my own coffee.. 4 hours later they show up with a brand new quizenart coffee maker In the Box. The superintendent said yeah I like my coffee too so when you said that I felt like I should bring you this. Not to mention the beach to pool the bar and restaurant all on premises. Our next trip to the keys will be the Glunz as well.
Perfect for a family getaway while in the Keys during low season (we can imagine how crowded this must get), conveniently located mid-way if you consider taking a break before Key West or going back to Miami- the unit that we were staying at was fully renovated and facing the water, away from the main resort building- which allowed us to see beautiful sunsets in a perfectly quiet environment as well as conveniently located walking distance from one of the restaurant and the kids pool.
This hotel is in a great location & has beautiful grounds & views.
Comfortable bed, lovely shower.
Free coffee in morning.
Shame that the restaurant isn’t finished & open yet. Looks like it will be amazing.
Lovely lunch at sister location, Bongos at the Lagoon.
Great to have free kayaks & paddle boards, unfortunately it was too windy to take advantage of these. X🥲
Friendly, helpful staff.
Expensive, but I would still stay here again.
We had a corner suite, which overlooked the beach. It was a lovely quiet and a perfect base to explore the Keys. The Motel is fairly basic but provides everything you need. The beds are very comfortable, infact of the 5 weeks we spent in Florida we had the best nights sleep here. It's worth paying the extra for a corner suite. Breakfast is pretty basic but OK. The room was cleaned every day and the staff were welcoming and friendly.
I don’t know where I begin !!!! AMAZING 🙌🏻 super clean , calm , quiet , relaxing place , I can’t explain you have to experience it , the staff beyond than helpful. The lady at the front desk were super attentive. I am in love with this place. I’m super picky when it comer to rent for vacations and I nailed it this time better than any other hotel I’ve stayed at the Fl Keys. Highly recommended!!!!!!
The location is right in the middle of Marathon Key. It is a Motel as you would imagine a motel on the Florida Keys! There is a beach about 10 minutes drive away, A great place to have breakfeast is the Stuffed Pig, just down the road. Key West is an easy 1.5 hour drive away. The Motel is privatly run, so it is not a chain-hotel, but has its own charm and warmth. I would deffinetely go back!
The location was great. Even though it was the busy season in the keys, Marathon is a little less busy and commercial. The Treehouse is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, but you can walk to the Gulf (not a beach, but a pier you can sit on) to watch the sunset without worrying about traffic or crowds. The house is well equipped and comfortable.
The staff was super helpful.. but it took like one hr to check in.. so we got a free breakfast. Pools nice. I did a yoga class on the beach offered on site. Great instructor! Beautiful back area to see sunset and I loved the Sunset ceremony "Eventide" with fire dish to torch your troubles away symbolically. Great nightly tradition!!🧡
The room was recently updated and was nicer than expected from the exterior appearance of the hotel. It's a traditional Keys side of the road motel (view of airstrip only), but they had bikes and kayaks and a decent little pool and the rate was very reasonable compared to other properties in the area for that weekend.
The resort was a little bit shabby but it felt like they were trying to improve it. I found a ton of broken glass on the beach as if they had taken down a structure but never cleaned it up. The staff was not terribly professional but overall they tried hard.
The heated jacuzzi and pool was great for the kids.
My stay at Captain Pips in Marathon, Florida was delightful! The rooms were cozy with a charming nautical theme.. The views of the marina added a relaxing backdrop to our vacation. With its close proximity to local attractions and eateries, it's a hidden gem in the Keys that I can't recommend enough!
Nice place to stay on the Keys. We preferred the other hotel we used but nothing particularly bad about this hotel. Everything was good. Breakfast bags were a nice touch. Room was spacious and clean.
I would give this amazing property 11 points out of 10. Clearly undervalued and absolutely hidden gem in Florida Keys. Totally recommended and we are coming back next year with other family members.
