There was a homeless encampment in front of the hotel horrible. I booked two rooms for my family while I was there family emergency and I received one room . They said the rooms were under construction then they should not have been available on the website when I booked the room. Unacceptable very disappointed never again 😔😳

I think West coast cities are damaged goods at this point.
I think West coast cities are damaged goods at this point.
I will not recommend San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Portland, Seattle nor Vancouver.
These places used to have terrific live music, comedy, food, safe walkable neighborhoods and scenery at prices that were justified but the homelessness, filth, gunfire and in-your-face politics make it less enjoyable.
I would sooner go to a smaller city like Salt Lake, Cleveland, Tacoma, Richmond now. Some of those places have some of the same challenges but the prices will be lower and you can enjoy yourself without as much filth and less political distraction.

The only thing we were able to find to do in the district was Lake Merritt's gardens and lakeside walk.
Shopping was almost non-existent, with most shopping areas full of shops for lease, etc. It seems that if you want to do anything you go on the BART to San Francisco.
We did find a nice cafe - "Kinfolx" 1951 Telegraph Avenue.

The accommodations, my bed and mattress and how quiet my room was from any interior noise was outstanding. The staff at the front desk was very helpful, polite and accommodating. I did not like the smell of marijuana the moment I entered and excited the hotel and in the elevator. Also, only one elevator worked for the 3 nights that I stayed at the hotel. Lastly, when I set up a wake up call for a specific time before I went to bed, I finally received a call more than a half hour after my request. The price that I paid for each night was truly exceptional thanks to Booking.com. I would definitely come back and stay at this hotel if the price per night was the same.

We stayed very close to the airport in Oakland and turns out that area is very bad and dangerous. Even the mini market store closes early and only dispatch through a little windows. Research the area where you will stay, the airport area is NOT nice
The room I stayed in was a large corner room, which I requested because I wanted a quiet room -- but it was unfortunately not quiet in that hotel. Glad I requested a quiet room, though -- highly recommend that you do, too. The Washington Inn is in the perfect location -- only walking distance from downtown Oakland, including the Fox Theatre. The room felt safe once inside. Definitely not a family-friendly hotel but ideal for pleasure-seekers interested in a night on the town.
As a former Oakland resident, I can assure you that the value and location of this hotel are second to none. Clean rooms, comfy bed, kind staff. If you're looking for luxury, the Marriott across the street will happily charge you 3x the price for their version of it. But if you're more "no frills" and enjoy vintage details (i loved the old kitschy elevator), look no further. Also, ample parking.
It is close to the Oakland Airport with free shuttle bus. We were recommended to go to the Mediterranean restaurant next door, but, the the full menu was not available. We walked along the road maybe half a mile on the same side to the Japanese restaurant where we enjoyed a fabulous meal for the same cost. The room was spacious and comfortable with a microwave
Really convenient location - a very short drive to both Oakland arena and the airport.
The room was clean and well stocked with just about anything you might need: microwave, fridge, coffee machine, iron&board etc. They also provide two bottles of water and ear plugs.
The beds are the comfiest I have ever come across in a hotel.
Room was clean and spacious with all required amenities. Breakfast had a few options but was repetitive for all the days i stayed at the hotel. It was good enough for my needs. I had the road facing room so cant comment on the view from room but in general the other side view was better as it was lake facing
Lots of light, gated parking lot was very nice esp for this area where parking/car safety can be a challenge. Room furnishings and cleanliness were much better than most motels I’ve stayed in; more like a mid-range hotel. Would recommend this to others needing to stay in Oakland/Berkeley!
This is the second time we have stayed here…both times for concerts in the Oakland/Berkeley area. This hotel is on such a convenient location. Walkable from the Bart Station and right next to the SFO ferry. Our room faced the ferry terminal with a beautiful view and lanai.
It's a very welcoming atmosphere. We were thrilled that our dog could stay with us and there were lots of places for him to exercise. The location was perfect, so near to the Oakland Airport. The room was nice, not outstanding but very nice.
I loved the king size double beds in the room. The view from my hotel room was spectacular. I loved the 24/7 shuttle service to the airport. The driver was quick and efficient. The food at the restaurant downstairs was good as well.
Surprisingly clean for an economic airport hotel in that location. We were pleasantly surprised and decided to stay there on our flight out as well. Will for sure stay there for airport overnights whenever we fly through OAK again.
The hotel only charged me $5 more than the rate I was quoted when I booked through booking.com. I suppose they could have charged much more. The room was fine, and the situation may have been booking.com's fault, who knows.
Good location, free shuttle to/from airport. Staff was courteous albeit a little slow to respond to problems. The Mediterranean Palms restaurant next door had fabulous takeout in an area that is a food desert.
Location to hospital was why I chose this location. You can see the attempt to keep the place up and looking nice. At first glance it looks like an "old" but decent hotel. Looks good from far, but far from good.
The Air Conditioning didn't work, and the ceiling in the room fell on the floor. I checked out of the hotel and am out of my $284. The hotel, and Booking
Com refused to refund me. Will NEVER use again
The staff were very nice and helpful, the lounge area and bar were great for hanging out with our friends, free coffee, location to the Fox Theater, clean rooms, the security of the hotel
