San Simeon is a great spot for quiet relaxation. It's right by the ocean and has several restaurants. It's also just a few minutes drive to Cambria if you want to go for a nice walk on the Moonstone Beach walkway right by the ocean, and then another short drive to Cambria's cute little town.

The ocean was beautiful.
The ocean was beautiful. It was great seeing the elephant seals, and all their babies, lots and lots of babies everywhere. Every female seem to have a baby was happy to see the her castle from afar could not take my puppies, so I could not go on the tour. Next time I will go on the tour I will find a pet sitter.

San Simeon is just one of those cool places that are not over crowded by people and businesses. Different places to stop and explore along this part of the coastline. Besides having Hearst Castle, you can check out the elephant sea lions area and a lighthouse. Just south of San Simeon you have a quick drive over the Moonstone Beach and another 20 min south you have Morro Bay. I think it is a great place to stay when you don't want to be in one of the bigger beach towns, its a more down to earth place when you want to just be in one of the small cozy towns.

San Simeon state Beach is perfect for families.
San Simeon state Beach is perfect for families. It's not crowded like Pismo or windy like Avila. Perfect for families. Affordable restaurant options are limited for large families. None really unless you eat at the mini mart.

We are from Southern California, so other than being cooler than expected and overcast in the morning in August, the weather was great. The scenery is picturesque and there is tons to do. The hotel gave us a guidebook/map of the area and it listed so many fun activities, way more than you can do in a weekend vacation. Of course, Hearst Castle is the star. We did not get to see the lighthouse due to odd hours. We couldn't even park nearby to just take pictures. Cambria is only five miles away for shopping and dining and Harmony is just another five miles south for ice cream, photos, and gift shopping.

It was close to Hearst Castle which was good.
It was close to Hearst Castle which was good. There was no continental breakfast of any kind, along with no hair dryer in the room. There was a horrible smell coming from the sink drain that permeated the room and I had to shut the door. I wouldn't stay there again.
I am very satisfied with our accommodation in this hotel! It was great! The room was just renovated!
Everything inside is pretty new ( TV, air conditioner, fridge, microwave etc)
The kingsize bad was very comfortable and pillows as well
Also we enjoyed with spa and swimming pool
The service staff on the reception was very attentive and kind!
I can recommende this hotel for all travelers I this region
It was nice to stay there
We requested an upstairs room on the quieter side of the hotel. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the room. Our balcony had a lovely view of the hills as well as the ocean. The bed was very comfortable, and we appreciated having cable TV. Excellent location for visiting Hearst Castle and Cambria. Beach access within walking distance.
Nice large comfortable clean room, with a large comfy bed. Large TV lots of Chanel’s
Great location near Hearst castle and Coll town of Cambria , few local restaurants near by with great food.
Good self service breakfast in the morning.
Nice swimming pool.
Place would be made brilliant with a little bar and possible on site good ?
Great staff. Shout out to the reception staff who greeted me (one who had a British father was particularly helpful) and Jazz the maintenance man who fixed my tv, and was always cheerful and ready to have a chat when I bumped into him. The staff make this place (plus the beach next to the hotel).
The location was the main reason for our visit, the hotel is right on the beach. The restaurant on site is very good for both breakfast and dinner. The fire pits on the beach are a nice touch and we enjoyed sitting by those and meeting people from different countries and cultures.
I stay at this hotel Everytime I'm passing thru San Simeon, it's under new ownership I noticed this time which is a plus because great upgrades have been done and just enjoyed the retro themed rooms and the beds were the best along with everything else.
Grounds were well maintained. Pet friendly. Pacific views were breathtaking. Enjoyed the walking trail on the site. Best part was that everything was in one place and very convenient to get to from our pet friendly lodge room.
I loved the location. It was comfortable, quiet and peaceful. I liked that it was away from the hustle and bustle of Cambria, but close enough, a short drive to enjoy Cambria. I also love that the hotel is pet friendly.
The light up mirror was nice. It was walking distance from the beach. Enjoyed the San Simeon beach bar and grill walking distance from there for dinner.
