The highlight of my trip was my morning stroll by the riverside. It was a peaceful Sunday morning. The weather was cool and it was not that sunny. In contrast with the hustle and bustle of the previous Saturday evening (which was also a sight to behold), there were not a lot of people at the plaza and the park apart from some joggers and men fishing in the river.
I culminated my stroll with a visit to one of the popular eateries in the neighbourhood serving authentic a-gei (淡水老牌阿給 創始店, No. 6之1號, Zhenli St, Tamsui District, New Taipei City, Taiwan 251). This was one of the reasons I wanted to visit Tamsui. I ordered a-gei with a side of fish ball soup. And it did not disappoint. The a-gei was very filling and flavourful. It reminded me of sotanghon I used to eat back home. The fish balls, on the other hand, were packed with filling and immersed in a hot peppery soup.
I was looking for a relaxing/restful experience for my weekend trip. I definitely got that during my stay in Tamsui.

Good for walking along the riverside.
Good for walking along the riverside. More interesting if you wander up the back streets. The hotel staff didn’t know where a laundry was but found a laundromat 5 minutes walk away - turn right and walk up the hill - take the first lane on the right and its on the left - self service with washing and drying machines - new and clean.

I loved Tamsui, where the hotel is located.
I loved Tamsui, where the hotel is located. The old part of town was around the corner and 7 min. walk away is the long waterfront with hundreds of food stalls, restaurants and lots of people having a good time strolling, flying kites and eating delicious local foods.
The hotel was ok but dated. The mattresses were not comfortable and the air conditioner didn’t work.

I would like to try the light rail, but did not have enough time.
The river was much cleaner than the last time I visited. One has to check Google maps to be reminded of the closeness of waterfronts due to so many high rises.

Beautiful city with exceptionally nice people.
Beautiful city with exceptionally nice people. Tamsui has a neat boulevard with many little food shops and restaurants. If possible, visit the garden of the Tamkang University up on the hill. It is really beatiful. If you want to visit Taipei, you can take the MRT, which is located in the heart of Tamsui. It takes 30 minutes up to an hour, depending on your destination.

The riverwalk extends for a mile up the WIDE Tamsui River....be sure to take a stroll. "Old Street" and blocks of sprawling markets are fascinating. Don't miss Ft. San Domingo (Spanish fort in Taiwan!), Oxford College and the home of Dr. George Mackay (1872-1901 Christian missionary to Taiwan; brought literacy, education for women, medical care to northern Taiwan), a ferry ride across to "Bali", colorful temples, and the many tea shops (my favorite? passion fruit / mango green tea!). Find a "beef noodles" shop...delicious! It's easy to get to Tamsui - only 35 minutes from Main Station Taipei on the "Red Line".
Perfect stay for my one night while in town. Friendly staff made the check-in seamless. Nice size room with comfy bed, clean environment, balcony, bathtub, fridge, etc. Location is great: Only a 7 minute walk from the Tamsui MRT station, and there are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores just steps away from the hotel. Right across the street is a small shop that sells delicious coffees and lattes, and five minutes away is an American restaurant (Kooks 異嗑堂) that has good Mexican food--a real treat in Taiwan.
Superb room with outstanding sunset view of GuanYin Shan mountain. Flat 10min (easy walk for wheely bags) to train connection to Taipei/Tamsui. Allowed to leave bags at desk on early arrival, Heritage mangrove cycle path along the river over the road. Great breakfast & friendly staff. Excellent value for money - will stay again. (Cloud Riverside Hotel is bizarrely named "Sees Revert")
It is a nice hotel. Not a five star but still for a correct price a good bet! The room was spacious and comfortable. I would highlight the pasta and the tofu sauce from the breakfast. Next to it 7Eleven. The water kettle was clean. Maybe they change these time to time, nevertheless the cleanliness was unique. The hairdryer was put to a chils safeness. Oncd done.
Pleasant hotel on the harbour, within walking distance of Lovers Bridge. Good sized room with large beds and great bathroom. Breakfast was buffet, with a good choice of food types, western and Asian. Clean, plenty of space and pleasant staff. Close enough on bus to tamsui central, nearby to lots of cafes and restaurants. Roof top pool was great.

It was convinient to buy food early in the morning . And not so noisy staff was approachable.. 🖤
This was our second stay at the hotel, and they answered everything we needed. Also, my partner is a vegetarian, and the staff tells him which dish is vegetarian every breakfast. The bonus part was they had the kitchen cook up small portions without meat.
Breakfast was healthy with a lot of choices. Staff were very helpful and accomadating especially not being from Taiwan. The room was very clean and neat with a beautiful ocean view. Loved that they had a mall with various shops part of the hotel.
A very nice hotel including the design of the hotel, room size, with greenery surroundings which make you feel very relax during the stay. Despite not within walking distance to MRT station but shuttle bus is offered.
Amazing location and view and the room we had was very large and roomy with lots of amenities. The hotel has a lot of great things on-site but also loads of Fisheman's Wharf entertainment is nearby.
Tamsui is a wonderful place to be. And from this hotel it's easy to reach everything easily. People are friendly and it's clean. The room is comfortable and the bed is also good.
Buffet breakfast was reasonably good. Hotel has its own mechanical parking in the basement, and 3 other parking spaces around the hotel. Rooms were nicely designed.
