My husband and I stayed the night in Nong Khai on the way from Bangkok to Vientiane and we're glad we did. We took the day train because we wanted to see some of the countryside. We didn't have a plan for crossing the border and getting to Vientiane so we chose to stay over night in Nong Khai - just enough time before noon checkout the next day to have a leisurely dinner, walk along the river, and consult our hosts on the easiest way to get to Vientiane. That turned out to be a taxi to the bridge, a bus across the bridge and a taxi to our hotel in Vientiane. Couldn't have been easier.

Nong Khai was just a superb place to visit, alongside the fantastic Mekong river, great walking areas with good quality food, ideal for families, great markets that sell just about everything and the ambience of the place relaxed you straight away, we shall definitely be back !!

Relaxed vibes.
Relaxed vibes. Several places serving great food and fun, busy energy on Walking Street when the market was on (with delicious food). Ease of access to Vientiane/Laos is great but it's worth staying in Nong Khai for a few days. It's also worth travelling a little further west along the Mekong for a very real experience of Mekong river life and villages.

Perfect tourist place with lots of interesting things to do.
Perfect tourist place with lots of interesting things to do. Quaint markets and river walks are highlights of our stay. We hired a car at Udon Thani airport and that was our big plus to explore things around Nongkhai. Some of the places are 30-50 km away so having your car is necessary.

The Mekong river is impressive.
The Mekong river is impressive. The skywalk (Mountain forest temple) with spectacular views is worth visiting about 60 k west. This incoperates a pleasant river drive.
Nong Khai town itself looks run down particularly by the waterfront.
Nicely located Apartment Hotel in the middle of Nong Khai close to the river and the main street. The hotel and room were a little worn, but this was definitely compensated by the helpfulness of the host couple Jeem and Don in every way.
Lovely large room (no. 17) with large toilet and shower cubicle, containing all the facilities we needed during our 16 day stay. The cleaning was impeccable.
We will definitely use Pikul Apartment Hotel again on future visits to Nong Khai. Highly recommended for both short and long-term stays.
This was a beautiful property that was immaculately maintained. The front desk staff were super friendly and overall extremely helpful - thank you! The best mango and sticky rice of our entire trip in Thailand was out the front entrance and right next to the hotel on the right (don't remember the name). Also recommend a trip to the rum distillery if you want an off the beaten path experience.
I just stayed at Pikul Apartment for a night but I really enjoyed my stay! It's in the city center and the owners are lovely and always available. They booked the tuk tuk for me to go to the train station and in the mean time we had a very nice conversation about architecture! (The owner's husband is an architect himself)
Overall was a really nice stay!
Most comfortable bed i have slept on in Thailand. This is a great place if you have a vehicle. It is primarily a motel not a hotel. It is designed for people touring with a vehicle. It is about 3km from the town so if you have a car, bike a grab app or don't mind walking it will be great for you. Otherwise probably best to stay in town.
Very good staff
Efficient and cheap motorbike rental with professional company, exploring northern Thailand was a great adventure.
Water and toiletries topped up every day
Close to the main parts of Nong Khai (river, market, restaurants, 7-11)
Free fruit/small snacks
Overall, it is very good value for money
I have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions in the past. This time it wasn’t up to my expectations as on previouse visits.
Comfortable bed.
Cleaned bedding and towels.
Hot shower.
Location near Tesco lotus with restaurants.
WiFi was sometimes ok but weak.
Parking.
Budget price.
A very nice clean Hotel in the middle of Nong Kai. Just blocks from walking street that is open on the week end. Great breakfast. Bed was comfortable and the shower was first rate. The staff attended to our every needs. Only down side is its a bit pricey for Thailand.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at Mut Mee. Not only is it a great location , but it is a perfect place to relax and experience what Nong Khai has to offer.
Laid-back, comfortable room, friendly atmosphere, clean, bikes for 100 baht daily, perfect!
Nice area of town although far from the river which is the main attraction for Nong Khai. It is very close to the border checkpoint though so for weary travelers its a great place to overnight before heading into Laos.
A standard hotel with good buffet breakfast. It is in a good location for a group of us that travel by our own car, adequate parking space, not far from attractions, temples, river, cafe, restaurant.
Art filled hotel/hostel. Very homey. And cute. Probably the very best place to stay in Nong Khai. With airco and free coffee. Everything just lovely. Unique and excellent esthetics.
Small hotel just right in front of the mekong river. Staff very helpful to keep my luggage free of charge for 2 days while i was trecking. Mosquito net over the bed 😁
The hotel is very nice with a great breakfast. The rooftop bar and restaurant is a great place for sunset views. It's the nicest hotel in Nong Kai that I have seen.
Warning: in the description the hotel is 1.9 kms from Vientiane international airport but he’s 1 hour taxi…!!!! Big arnaque…. And he takes me the money !!!
Nice hotel and center for business meetings. Large, very clean room, large window. Small table with 2 chairs.
Very good buffet breakfast, Asian and western.
