This has got to be the most boring capital city in the world...
This has got to be the most boring capital city in the world. I include Cheyenne, Wyoming in this assessment. There is not much to do or see. Its very hard to find a decent restaurant anywhere and the people in the service industry all sit around and play on their phones rather than actually serve. You don't have to tip there, and you really don't ever feel the need to.

Sprawling unkempt dirty city.
Sprawling unkempt dirty city. Limited areas where one felt safe. One drives through very poor shanty suburbs to get anywhere. Every property is skeins by high grills. The city is creating with police. Doesn't make one feel at ease. A very visible contrast between the few well-off and the rest. It's interesting to have been there but wouldn't waste time going back. Some nice restaurants.

The people are remarkably easy going and friendly.
The people are remarkably easy going and friendly. No beeping car horns, and everybody is welcoming foreigners. It's on its face not a wealthy city, but wealth is probably more hidden here.
Go to Cafe del Aca, which is just fabulous. The place feels very very comfortable and the sandwiches and sweets I had were truly outstanding. The owner and locals say it's very Paraguayan, but I felt super at home.

Easy to get around, cheap taxis.
Easy to get around, cheap taxis. Colonial city with lots of warts, but many hidden treasures. Art galleries are hard to find, but fantastic. You need to walk the streets down town, visit the cathedral, president's palace and waterfront.
Need to go to Lido bar, just for the experience--the food is not as good as it was years ago.

Asuncion is a town for people who enjoy great shopping deals and gourmet dining. The downtown districts are weather-worn and unimpressive. Take advantage of the museums and places of interest. Taxis are inexpensive and the best way to get around, You will find many epicurean gourmet delights in the Casa Rica and Super 6 supermarkets Avenida San Martin provides wonderful shopping for fabrics and home goods. There are numerous upscale shopping areas in the Recoleta, Villa Morra, Mariscal Lopez and Laureles neighborhoods.

Beautiful city with nice people and great value for money.
Beautiful city with nice people and great value for money. The poverty stands out, however, so don't expect everything to be sparkling-new. Keep a few coins for the occasional beggar or street vendor who is trying desperately to make enough money for food by selling dishcloths or rubbish bags... it's at least an honest attempt to earn their way. I walked lots in the center and the ice cream is amazing! Some Spanish is a must, however.
The team at Asuncion Palace was amazing! Alice, Graciela, and Ciello were so wonderful, kind, and made me and my family very comfortable while staying in the heart of Asuncion. Breakfast each morning was delicious. We especially loved the fresh made chipa, cookies, and brownies! The hotel was so clean, and always well kept. We were in town to visit family is Sajonia, so the location could not have been better. Easy walk to shopping, attractions, and restaurants. The week long stay was perfect!
German hotel according to european standards
Professional team as expected in a 4 star hotel in Europe.
Billard, Table tennis and pool in a safe environment - children can play at ease
Good restaurant with interesting German and Russian cuisine.
Reasonable price compared with international hotels in Asuncion.
Friendly family business
Safe neighbourhood for walking to a small, nice cafe nearby
Close to the airport, but not noisy.
We could sleep without ear-plugs - really calm. Good windows.
I really only have good things to say about this hotel. It's the second time I've stayed here on work visits. The staff are friendly, helpful. They let us check in 3 hours early, which they really didn't have to, and we were so grateful. The breakfast is ample and pretty tasty. The pool is great. The room is huge and bed super comfy. And the bath in the bathroom is a real bonus!
la casona is a beautiful property, with excellent staff. the beds are amazingly comfortable and we enjoyed the variety of pillows. we had a great time drinking wine in the courtyard and watching the sunset from the 2nd story palapa. food was great and we were within a decent walk to local shops. we will definitely stay here again if we come back to Paraguay.
This property harkens back to a time when people valued opulence in a hotel. When I first walked into the lobby, I was very impressed with all the antique furniture and souvenirs that were on display. The rooms were also well decorated and I honestly felt like I was getting a luxury rental at an economy price.
The last morning of my stay David was so helpful arranging a Bolt ride to get me to the airport. I had been stressed because the Ubers didn’t show up, but with David’s help I made it to the airport in time! Casa Pradiso is there to answer your questions and help make your stay in Paraguay go smoothly!
Breakfast was great. Everything was fine only the noise from the street was bad. I recommend this hotel. If you want to party at night, the rooms with street view will be just perfect for your. If you want to have less noise, ask for a room without a street view.
By far the best hotel in Paraguay. The place is really charming. the staff is really friendly and responsive. I’ve been treated like a king. I’ll be back for my next stay in Asunción.
The location is perfect, not so close to the airport, but it the best choice for a business trip in Assunción. The hotel is supported by mall with all kids of restaurants.
The rooms are very nice and very modern, the staff is very helpful, the breakfast is excellent and the location of the hotel is great. The roof terrace with pool is great
It was a good location for a short stay, beautiful foliage that added to the look of the hotel, good buffet, we did not have to pay for the Wi-Fi, which is excellent.
